Alberta Louise Dreier

November 30, 1926 — March 5, 2022

Alberta Louise Dreier, the daughter of Uriah Scott and Lucile (Davenport) Holloway, was born November 30, 1926, in Harrison County near Bethany, Missouri and died March 5, 2022, at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa at the age of 95 years, 3 months, and 5 days.

Alberta attended a country school, High Point, until she was 8 years and in 1934 moved with her family to a farm north of Harlan, Iowa. She attended rural school Douglas #9 through 8th grade and then the family moved to a farm north of Kirkman, Iowa where she attended High School graduating with the Class of 1944. Alberta helped at home for a short time. In 1947 she went to summer school in Denison, Iowa and received a teaching certificate. Alberta taught rural school first at Douglas #3 in Audubon County for 3 and a half years then Polk #1 for one year.

On June 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harry A.C. Dreier at the Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Lincoln Township, Audubon County. They were blessed with three children Karen, Carolyn, and Scott. They lived on the Somer’s farm near Fiscus, Iowa and in 1961 moved to the Alfred David farm. Alberta was baptized on May 2, 1952 and confirmed May 4, 1952 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Alberta and Harry farmed with Harry’s brother before purchasing a farm south of Manning where they grew row crops and raised livestock. Along with helping Harry farm Alberta enjoyed working in her garden. Later Alberta was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Plaza and the Manning Hospital for over 17 years. She then worked at Wells Manufacturing Company for 2 and one half years before retiring. They retired from farming in 1997. Harry moved to the Manning Health Care Center on February 18, 2002. Alberta lived at their home then moved to Aspinwall, Iowa in 2004. Harry died March 20, 2005. Alberta lived in Aspinwall until 2015 when she moved to Senior Living and later to the Manning Plaza in 2018.

Alberta was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township until it closed and then became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She loved to garden and took great pride tending to her flower garden. Alberta was an excellent baker and always had a pot of coffee and cookies and cinnamon rolls ready when family and friends came to visit. She was also known for her homemade noodles she made for special get-togethers and the grandkids loved them. But most of all she enjoyed her family when they came to visit especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband of over 54 years Harry A.C. Dreier; her parents; her brothers Donald Holloway, James Holloway, Fred Holloway, Bob Holloway, Tom Holloway, O.E. “Buck” Holloway, Gary Holloway, and Junior Holloway; her sisters Doris Grabill, Luella Reynolds, and Janice Holloway.

Survivors include her children Karen and husband Fred Irlbeck of Aspinwall, Iowa, Carolyn Kerkhoff and Scott and wife Lisa Dreier all of Manning, Iowa; her 9 grandchildren Jeremy Irlbeck and Jeff Irlbeck both of Manning, Iowa Joe and wife Lindsey Irlbeck of Templeton, Iowa, Kenzie Kerkhoff, Kiley and husband Matt Halbur, Kody Kerkhoff all of Manning, Iowa, Andy Dreier, Jacob and wife Mallory Dreier, and Zach Dreier all of Manning, Iowa; her 16 great grandchildren Reiley, Reagan, Ryanne Irlbeck, Kenli, Jada, and Madison Irlbeck, Brynnlee, Owen and Haddie Irlbeck, Brayden, Ryder, and Brielle Halbur, Emma and Kaleb Kerkhoff, Jase and Sadie Dreier; her sister Nora Campbell of Irwin, Iowa; her sisters-in-law Dorothy Holloway and Cheri Holloway both of Harlan, Iowa, and Alice Dreier of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be open viewing Wednesday, March 9 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p. m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa with the family present between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jonathon Connor on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. The family will meet with friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The honorary casket bearers will be the great grandchildren. The casket bearers will be her grandchildren Jeremy Irlbeck, Jeff Irlbeck, Joe Irlbeck, Kenzie Kerkhoff, Kiley Halbur, Kody Kerkhoff, Andy Dreier, Jacob Dreier, and Zach Dreier. The service will be live streamed on the Kessler Funeral Home Facebook Page.
