Annis Marie Zinke

April 13, 1918 — January 4, 2011

Annis Marie Zinke, the daughter of Chris and Sena Christensen Krogh, was born April 13, 1918, at her parents home in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa, and died January 4, 2011, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 21 days.
Annis was baptized and confirmed at the Danish Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural school in Greeley Township and then was employed as a hired girl for a local family.
On July 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Floyd Zinke in Cedar Falls, Iowa at the summer home of Reverend John A. Deedrick the former pastor of the Audubon Evangelical Church. They lived on and operated the Zinke family farm in Greeley Township. They raised grain, livestock and were well known for their champion hogs. Annis always had a large garden and raised chickens. They semi-retired from farming and moved into Exira. Floyd died in 1978. Annis then managed the farm until she moved into the Exira Care Center in 2004.
Annis was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. She was a member of the Greeley Happy Helpers neighborhood club. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her wedding cakes she baked. She also enjoyed painting pictures.
Annis was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Zinke; her parents; her brothers: Emmert Krogh and Magner Krogh; her sister: Norma Madsen; her sisters-in-law: Ellowene Pardee and Elvera and husband Russell Lewis.
Survivors include her children: Val Zinke of Denver, Colorado; Ardyth and husband Lonnie Barber of Exira, Iowa; her grandchildren: Allyson Zinke, Erica Zinke, and Chris and wife Kelly Zinke all of Denver;her great grandchildren: Colton Zinke and Kate Zinke both of Denver; her brothers-in-law: Bernard Pardee of Hamlin, Iowa and Earnest Madsen of Exira; her sister-in-law: Phyllis Krogh of Exira; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday evening, January 6, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock and Vicar Rory Phillips on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa.
