Barbara Ann Jorgensen

Barbara Ann Jorgensen, the daughter of Elmer and Lotus (Frampton) Larsen, was born May11, 1939, in Harlan, Iowa and died March 15, 2015, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 4 days.
Barbara was baptized at the Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan, Iowa. She attended Harlan Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1957. While attending High School, Barbara was employed at the Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan.
On October 2, 1959, she was united in marriage to Ralph Lee Jorgensen at the Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan. Five daughters Coleen, Cindy, Cheryl, Charlene, and Cammy were born to this union. Barbara was a home maker while the children were young. She was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa for many years then cleaned the United Methodist Church and the Congregational United Church of Christ both in Harlan until she retired due to her health.
Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. "She was a generous, kind, and giving person, always putting others before herself. She was an outstanding cook and baker and was known for trying new recipes from her vast collection of cookbooks and magazines. She was a friend to many, and always had time to stop and talk, sometimes for hours! She truly loved being around people. But what she treasured most was being a loving wife to Ralph, a supportive and caring mom to her "5 C's", devoted grandma to her grandchildren and fun "GG" as lovingly known by her great grandchildren. Her faith in God was also important to her and helped shape a positive outlook on life and gave her strength."
Preceding her in death were her husband Ralph L. Jorgensen; and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters: Coleen and husband Danny Jones of Ames, Iowa; Cindy Jorgensen of Kimballton; Cheryl Bissen and special friend Steve Humphrey of Elk Horn, Iowa; Charlene and husband Danny Schneider of Audubon, Iowa; Cammy and husband Troy Hansen of Kimballton; her grandchildren: Dylan Nelsen of Gilbert, Iowa; Brennan Jones and Peyton Jones both of Ames; Jeremy and wife Katie Petersen of Elk Horn; Josh Petersen of Mound City, Missouri; Reid Zimmerman of Maryville, Missouri; Jacobi Zimmerman of Kimballton, Iowa; Whitney and husband Jeremy Jagoda of Leawood, Kansas; Shelby Bissen of Austin, Texas; Katelyn and husband Austin Kolbe of Bellevue, Nebraska; Cassidy Bissen of Ames, Iowa; Codi Bissen of Ames; Lyndsy Fitzniak and husband Zach Fitzgerald of Chicago, Illinois; McKenzie and husband Mitch Burmeister of Harlan, Iowa; Tyler Hansen of Kimballton and special friend Katie Miller of Harlan; her great grandchildren: Jace, Jaelynn, Jacob, and Jorgen Petersen all of Elk Horn; and Hunter Burmeister of Harlan; her sister Janelle and husband Redgie Hansen of Scottsdale, Arizona; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Harvey Jorgensen of Springfield, Missouri; Roy and wife Lila Jorgensen of Audubon; Correne and husband Gary Schmidt of Sheldon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The honorary casket bearers will Whitney Jagoda, Lyndsy Fitzniak, McKenzie Burmeister, Cassidy Bissen, Codi Bissen, Shelby Bissen, Katelyn Kolbe, Brennan Jones, and Peyton Jones. The casket bearers will be Jeremy Petersen, Dylan Nelsen, Reid Zimmerman, Jacobi Zimmerman, Tyler Hansen, Jeremy Jagoda, Mitch Burmeister, Austin Kolbe, Joshua Petersen, and Zach Fitzgerald.
