Beatrice Mardell Jorgensen

November 21, 1938 — January 12, 2023

Beatrice Mardell Jorgensen, the daughter of Hans Peter, Sr. and Carrie (Christensen) Jorgensen, was born November 21, 1938, at her parents’ home in rural Audubon County, Iowa. Bea, beloved Mother and Grandmother, quietly passed from this life on January 12, 2023 at her residence, the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa.

Better known as Bea or Aunt Bea, she grew up surrounded by her 11 siblings and eventually many nieces and nephews. Bea was always ready to entertain company when they popped in; she was sure to make certain that they had something to eat and a good cup of coffee. She is remembered by her nieces and nephews for always having plenty of candy on hand and for sending holiday cards with a dollar bill taped inside. Her love of handing out treats to children didn’t stop with family members as she was known to be generous with her friend’s children as well.

The pride and joy of Bea’s life was her son Greg, whom she doted on until the day she left this earth. Bea had a big voice and used it to cheer on her son during high school wrestling matches. This could be a source of embarrassment to him, but when he had children of his own, he came to understand the love that only a parent can feel. Bea was blessed with two grandchildren who reaped the benefits of her joyful giving and bountiful love and pride. Their memories include stopping at Casey’s to get Grandma a sweet roll and a Diet Coke as they drove into town to visit her. This would be a tradition of theirs for many years. Though life was difficult for Bea at times, she always had a smile and a kind heart.

She will be missed greatly by her family, friends and those who took such loving care of her at the Friendship Home for many years. They share the joy in knowing that she is with the Lord, she is reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and that they will one day see her again.

Preceding her in death were her Parents; HP and Carrie Jorgensen, her brothers, HP Jr. and wife Jane Jorgensen, Lloyd, Erick John and wife Audrey Jorgensen and Franklin, her sisters, Geneva and husband LaVern Krauel, Yvonne Staples, Patsy Schurer and Sharlene and husband Mike Jensen; her brother-in-law Kent Walters ,and sister-in-law Nadine Jorgensen.

Survivors include her son Greg and wife Cindy Jorgensen of Montgomery, Texas; her grandchildren Katie Jorgensen of Dallas, Texas and Matt Jorgensen of Montgomery, Texas; her sisters Virginia and husband Norbert Stoberl of Manning, Iowa, Marlene Walters of Audubon, Iowa; her brother Darvin Jorgensen of Exira, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Jorgensen and Carol Jorgensen both of Audubon, Iowa and one brother-in-law Mick Schurer of Lawrence, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will greet friends Monday evening January 16, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
