Burdell Hansen, the son of Emmert A. and Audrey Humphries Hansen, was born January 22, 1949, in Carroll, Iowa and died July 31, 2011, in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 9 days. Burdell was baptized at the Baptist Church east of Audubon. He attended grade school at Viola Center then graduated from Audubon High School with the Class of 1967. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. Burdell moved to Colorado where he was employed by an insurance agency near Denver for a short time. He returned to Audubon and was employed at Cramer Insurance Agency which he later purchased and became Hansen Insurance Agency. On June 12, 1982, he was united in marriage to Roxane Monahan at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon. Two sons Burdell, Jr. (BJ) and Brad were born to this union. He continued to operate his insurance agency and later changed the name to Nishna Valley Insurance. He sold the agency to Community Insurance and Real Estate and Burdell semi-retired. Burdell enjoyed playing golf, cards, and spending time with his friends, but above all he loved his family. Burdell was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Leo J. Monahan. Survivors include his wife Roxane Hansen of Audubon; his sons Burdell Hansen, Jr. (BJ) and his wife April of Omaha, Nebraska and Brad Hansen of Kansas City, Missouri; his aunts Elaine Owen of Audubon and Martha Leader of Bellevue, Nebraska; his uncle Charles and wife Jeanne Humphries of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his mother-in-law Eleanor Monahan of Rockwell City, Iowa; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jody Monahan of Omaha, Lynn Enger and friend Herb Axilrod of Dallas, Texas, Marjorie Monahan of Rochester, Minnesota, Diane and her husband Tony Benetz of Kansas City, Steve Monahan of Fontainebleau, France; his nephews Joe, wife Amanda Benetz, and their daughter Reagan of Kansas City, Adam Enger of Dallas; cousins, other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in St.Patrick\'s Catholic Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening August 3, 2011, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Father Emmanuel Agwuoke on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa.
