Captain Jeanette Ione LaFoy, born February 16, 1974, to Dr. Mary Mountain and Mr. Randall LaFoy in Audubon, Iowa, died on April 1, 2019, in Kansas City, Missouri. Jeanette recently retired from the United States Army.
Jeanette was an avid traveler who had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and new experiences. Her decades-long post in Germany fed this adventurous side, allowing her to study the customs and traditions of different cultures and, most importantly, try new foods.
Before enlisting in the Army, Jeanette was an accomplished basketball player. Her love of all sports, but basketball in particular, never faded. She enjoyed meeting new people as a referee for basketball and volleyball games.
Jeanette had the gift of contagious laughter and a genuine smile that warmed the hearts of many. She was incredibly generous with her time, viewing every opportunity to help a friend or loved one as a chance to make memories.
