Carole Joanne Christensen

Carole Joanne Christensen, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Miller) Trumbo was born December 3, 1938, in Bedford, Iowa and died June 10, 2014, at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 7 days. Carole was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church in Bedford, Iowa. She attended Bedford Community Schools then they moved to Lemars, Iowa where she graduated from Central High School in 1957. After graduation she moved to California for a short time then returned home. Carole was employed as a secretary for farm service and later as a telephone operator in Atlantic, Iowa. On January 24, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jerry L. Christensen at the First Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. Three children: Randy, Pam, and Scott were born to this union. They farmed west of Audubon, Iowa where they grew row crops and operated a dairy. In 1984, they sold out and then worked for a local farmer for a short time. In 1986, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Carole worked in Sun City, Arizona and received her Certified Nurse’s Aide Certificate and was employed at Sun Health Personal Care Services. She retired after working there for 19 years. They moved to Salina, Kansas where they could be closer to their children. Carole was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Salina. Carole was preceded in death by her infant son Randy Christensen and her parents. Survivors include her husband Jerry L. Christensen of Salina, Kansas; her children: Pamela Jo Christensen and her life partner Mary Jo Parker; Scott David and wife Dawn Christensen all of Salina; her grandchildren: Ashley Nichole and husband Aaron Bennett of Salina; Robert William Hartranft of Phoenix, Arizona; her twin great grandsons: Jack Scott Bennett and James Richard Bennett both of Salina; her sister Sheryl and husband Dale Myers of Atlantic, Iowa; her sister-in-law Donna and husband Art Malloy of Churdan, Iowa; her brother-in-law Paul and wife Sharon Christensen of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
