Charles Clarence Moser

August 16, 1950 — November 4, 2021

Charles “Chuck” Clarence Moser, the son of Robert and Mary (Butts) Moser, was born August 16, 1950, in Shenandoah, Iowa and died November 4, 2021, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 71.

Chuck was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. He attended the Council Bluffs Community Schools and graduated from Lewis Central High School with the Class of ‘69. He studied at the Muscatine Junior College before transferring to the University of Wisconsin in Platteville, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education in 1974.

During his studies at the University of Wisconsin he met Patricia “Patty” Cowling, whom he married on May 24, 1974, at the First Congregational Church in Platteville. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Kedrin and Nathan, and later adopted another son, Nick. They moved to Graettinger, Iowa where Chuck taught the high school Agriculture class for three years. They then purchased and ran a hog confinement near Treynor, Iowa for several years before moving to Brookings, South Dakota, where Chuck studied at South Dakota State University and received his master’s degree in Animal Physiology. The family moved to Estherville, Iowa, where he used his agriculture degrees extensively throughout his banking career in many farming communities throughout Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota. He held the positions of loan officer, branch manager, president, and owner. Chuck eventually sold his bank and moved to an acreage in Fulda, Minnesota to raise sheep.

In 2018, Chuck and Patty moved to Brayton, Iowa to be closer to their children, where Chuck raised sheep and loved to tinker on various farm projects. Chuck was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, Minnesota; after he and his wife moved to Iowa, they began attending the Exira Lutheran Church where Chuck served on the Church Council. He loved writing poems and songs. He especially enjoyed sharing them with others. Chuck found tremendous joy in raising his sheep, fishing, and analyzing the stock market. He enjoyed hunting morel mushrooms and even spent a lot of time attempting to grow them domestically. Chuck enjoyed playing UNO, having big family dinners, and telling people how proud he was of his family – especially Patty’s pies.

Preceding him in death was his father, Robert Moser, and three infant brothers-in-law.
