David Lee Borst

David Lee Borst, the son of Wilbur and Eleanor (Schilling) Borst, was born on August 12, 1952, in Schenectady, New York and died September 20, 2018, at his home in St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 8 days.
David graduated from Shelbyville (Indiana) High School in 1970. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1993 after distinguished service in the 56th Supply Squadron which included the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
While stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, at Offut Air Force Base, he met and married the love of his life, Donna Jean Fancher on May 1, 1982.
They moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where they made their home. David loved sports and followed and attended the Tampa Bay Rays, Buccaneers and Lightning games. He also became a fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas City Royals. He followed the NASCAR circuit and for over 20 years attended the Daytona 500 race every February. David and Donna recently began attending the symphony. He always had an interest in the activities of his nieces and nephews and also his great nieces and nephews. His mother looked forward to a phone call from him every day.
Preceding him in death was his wife Donna Borst; his father and his brother-in-law Gary Fancher.
Survivors include his mother, Eleanor Borst of Bradenton, Florida; his brother Jack (Marge) Borst of Bradenton, Florida; his nephew Michael (Fallan) Borst of Collinsville, Illinois; niece Catherine Borst of Chicago, Illinois; great nephews Jordan (Jessica) Borst of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jacob Borst of Collinsville, Illinois; and great niece Caitlyn Borst of Collinsville, Illinois. Sisters-in-law Marilyn (Danny) Rubel of Stanton, Iowa; and Joan Fancher of Audubon, Iowa; nieces Marla (Mickey) Anderson of Stanton, Iowa; Danis (Bret) Hultman of Red Oak, Iowa; Brooke (Jerod) Burns of Brooklyn, Iowa; nephew Justin (Katy) Fancher of Grimes, Iowa; great niece Ragen (Adam) Gladman of Stanton, Iowa; great nephews Reece Anderson of Stanton, Iowa; Connor Hultman and Easton Hultman of Red Oak, Iowa; Beau Burns and Ethan Burns of Brooklyn, Iowa; Brock Fancher, Brody Fancher and Brecken Fancher of Grimes, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted by Pastor Kelley Pedersen on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. Graveside military rites will be directed by Audubon Post #120, American Legion and Dale Christensen Post #4119, V.F.W.
