Delores Anna Christiansen

Delores Anna Christiansen, the daughter of George and Edna Christensen Hansen, was born March 12, 1924, at her parents home west of Audubon, Iowa and died December 28, 2010, at The Friendship Home in Audubon at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 16 days.
Delores was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church west of Audubon. She attended rural school and later graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1942. She then was employed at the Audubon Shoe Store.
On December 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to Sidney V. Christiansen at Our Saviours Lutheran Church Parsonage in Audubon. Two daughters, Patty and Paula were born to this union. They moved to Burlington, Iowa where they lived for a short time. In 1945, Sid enlisted in the United States Navy and Delores returned to the Audubon area and lived with her parents. Following Sids honorable discharge from the service they operated farms northeast of Gray, Iowa. Delores was a homemaker helping Sid farm and caring for the girls. They retired from farming and later moved in to Audubon. Delores enjoyed her home until she moved to the Friendship Home in the spring of 2008. Sid died March 30, 2010.
Delores was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon and had been a member of the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed working with her vegetable gardens, strawberries and cherry trees on the farm. Delores was well known for the delicious cookies she baked. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs. Her greatest fun was playing cards with her grandchildren. She enjoyed making afghans and doing cross stitch.
Preceding her in death were her husband Sidney V. Christiansen; her parents; her sisters: Irene Andersen and Ila Mae and husband Wayne Christensen; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Victor Madsen, Sr.; Dale Christiansen; Frances and husband Henry Kissler; Junior Jensen, Bud Newman and Irwin Christiansen.
Survivors include her daughters: Patty and husband Don Robertson of Northfield, MN, Paula and husband Rickie Caten of Bentonville, AR; her grandchildren: Jill Robertson and husband Jason Schulte of San Francisco, CA, Amy Robertson of Redondo Beach, CA, Jennifer Degen of Ft. Madison, IA; her great grandsons: Dale Degen and David Degen both of Ft. Madison; her sister: Betty Madsen of Audubon, her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Leona Newman of Denver, CO, Elaine Jensen of Audubon, IA; Marjorie Christensen of Rock Springs, MO and Emmert and wife Elnora Andersen of Milford, IA; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton, IA at 1:30 P.M.

Visitation:
Friends may call at their convenience at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Douglas Opp on Friday, December 31, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
