Deloris Arlene Anderson

Deloris Arlene Anderson, the daughter of Peter C. and Anna C. Lauritsen Petersen, was born May 10, 1927, at her parents home in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died January 28, 2011, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, Minnesota at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 18 days.
Deloris was baptized at the Bethany Lutheran Church northwest of Kimballton and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. She attended rural schools Sharon No. 2 and Audubon No. 2. Deloris later received her G.E.D and then graduated from Iowa Western Community College with a Nursing Degree and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1981. When Deloris was sixteen her mother died and she stayed home to help raise her younger siblings.
On February 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Russell E. Anderson at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira in a double wedding ceremony with Norman and Veda (Anderson) Larsen. They operated several farms in and around the Audubon County region for many years. During this time Deloris was a homemaker and helped Russell farm. They sold their farm equipment in 1964 and moved to Brayton, Iowa. In 1966 they opened the Double R Corral. They operated the tavern until they sold the business in 1972. Deloris then was employed as a cook in several area restaurants. In 1975 she started working for the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa where she first was a med-aide then later was a Licensed Practical Nurse until she retired in 1992. During retirement Deloris and Russell would winter in Quartzsite, Arizona. Russell died October 19, 1999. Deloris remained active in the Brayton Community until she moved to Northfield, Minnesota in the spring of 2008.
Deloris was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. She was a member of the Brayton Community Club and a member of the Brayton American Legion Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Russell was her daughter Karen Rose Anderson; her parents; her step-mother Zelma Petersen; her brothers and sister Lewis Petersen, Leonard Petersen, Adellia Deist, Franklyn Petersen; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marie Petersen, Lorraine Petersen, Milo (Bud) Anderson, LaVern Anderson, George Sherman, Norman Larsen, Earl Bennett, Rose Anderson, Betty Anderson, and Ed Schraeder.
Survivors include her daughters Joyce and husband Lynn Laux of Plano, Texas, Denise and husband Eric Bundgaard of Northfield, Minnesota; her grandchildren Matthew and wife Julia Laux of Dallas, Texas, Russell and wife Joy Laux of Wylie, Texas, Trygve and wife Charlotte Bundgaard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tycen and wife Shan Bundgaard of Singapore; her great grandchildren Carlos and wife Sandra Rocha and Michael Martinez all of Dallas, Alyssa Bennett and Ashley Laux both of Wylie, Ella Bundgaard and Trystan Bundgaard both of Colorado Springs; her great great-grandson Ruben Rocha of Dallas; her brother and sisters Elizabeth Anderson of Audubon, Iowa, Florence Anderson of Waukee, Iowa, Ernest and wife Jane Petersen of Alameda, California, Vi and husband Darrell Kilworth of Exira, Iowa, Shirley Sherman of St. Joseph, Missouri; her step-sister Clara Schraeder of Omaha, Nebraska; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Veda Larsen of Audubon, Lola Bennett of Carroll, Iowa, Richard Anderson of Brayton, Iowa, Arnold Deist of Berwick, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorials:
The family prefers memorials to the Brayton Community Club or the Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimers Association.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Tuesday evening February 1, 2011, at 6:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Vicar Rory Phillips on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa.
