Delvan Dee Olsen

Delvan Dee Olsen, the son of Earl and Isabelle (McFadden) Olsen, was born July 6, 1949, in Carroll, Iowa and died September 6, 2017, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 68 years and 2 months.
Delvin was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Delvan had been born handicapped so he was unable to attend school. He resided under his parent’s care at home until his mother died on March7, 2007. He then made his home at the Friendship Home in Audubon.
Delvan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. He enjoyed listening to music and looked forward to his Sunday afternoon car rides with his parents. Delvan loved to eat mashed potatoes and Hershey’s candy bars. He had his own unique way of communicating and was able to acknowledge others.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his Uncles Glen O. Christensen and Lester Olsen; and his Aunt Wilma and Husband Russell Rubel.
Survivors include his Aunts Lowene Christensen of Carroll, Iowa and Ruth Olsen of Exira, Iowa; his cousins and their families: Darrell and wife Paula Rubel of Hailey, Idaho, Frank and wife Carol Olsen and Patty and husband Gary Umland all of Audubon, Iowa, Steve and wife Sherri Olsen of Ashland, Nebraska, Mary and husband Tom Grote of Audubon, Iowa, Ron and wife Nancy Christensen of Omaha, Nebraska, Bruce Christensen and Deb Layland of Audubon, Iowa, and Sue and husband Jim Weitl of Carroll, Iowa.
The family will meet with friends on Friday afternoon, September 8, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kelly Pedersen on Friday afternoon, September 8, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers will be Frank Olsen, Bruce Christensen, Ron Christensen, Steve Olsen, Wayne Moreland, and William Moore.
The family prefers memorials to the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa.
