Donna Jean (Fancher) Borst

Donna Jean Borst, the daughter of Orra Glenn and Mildred Lavaun (Somers) Fancher, was born on September 23, 1949, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa and died September 20, 2018, at her home in St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Donna was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended country school in Cameron Township, Gray Consolidated School and graduated from Audubon Community High School in 1967. After graduation she attended Clarkson Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska graduating in August, 1970. She then worked at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. While living in Omaha she met the love of her life, David Lee Borst and they were married on May 1, 1982.
After their marriage they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. Donna worked at Tampa Bay General Hospital where she was the Orthopedic Nurse Supervisor until retiring in June 2014.
Donna was an avid sports fan following and attending the Tampa Bay Rays, Buccaneers and Lightning games, but also kept her roots in the Midwest by following the Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas City Royals. She followed the NASCAR circuit and attended the Daytona 500 for over 20 years. In recent years she found a love for the symphony. Her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews were the joy of her life. She kept track of all their school activities and, if possible, came back home to attend their milestones. She was separated from her family by distance, but her love of all was ever present.
Preceding her in death were her husband David Borst; her parents; her brother Gary Fancher and her father-in-law Wilbur Borst.
Survivors include husband David who died shortly after Donna; her sister Marilyn (Danny) Rubel of Stanton, Iowa; sister-in-law Joan Fancher of Audubon, Iowa; her nieces Marla (Mickey) Anderson of Stanton, Iowa; Danis (Bret) Hultman of Red Oak, Iowa; Brooke (Jerod) Burns of Brooklyn, Iowa; nephew Justin (Katy) Fancher of Grimes, Iowa; her great niece Ragen (Adam) Gladman of Stanton, Iowa; great nephews Reece Anderson of Stanton, Iowa; Connor Hultman and Easton Hultman of Red Oak, Iowa; Beau Burns and Ethan Burns of Brooklyn, Iowa; Brock Fancher, Brody Fancher and Brecken Fancher of Grimes, Iowa. Mother-in-law Eleanor Borst of Bradenton, Florida; brother-in-law Jack (Marge) Borst of Bradenton, Florida; nephew Michael (Fallan) Borst of Collinsville, Illinois; niece Catherine Borst of Chicago, Illinois; great nephews Jordan (Jessica) Borst of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jacob Borst of Collinsville, Illinois; great niece Caitlyn Borst of Collinsville, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted by Pastor Kelley Pedersen on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
