George Harold Wade

George Harold Wade, the son of Harley and Elizabeth (Cannon) Wade, was born May 25, 1930, in Tama County and died February 6, 2013, at the Caring Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Anita, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 11 days. George lived most of his early years with his mother and brother on his grandfather’s homestead in Wiota, Iowa. Their home was across the street from his Uncle Ray’s saddle shop on the east end of town where George spent many hours while he was growing up. George was a member of the Wiota Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Wiota High School in 1949. On February 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Donna Compton. Four daughters Marcia, Pam, Beth, and Cindy were born to this union. They lived in Marshalltown for several years then moved to Colorado near Greeley. On July 3, 1972, George married Edna Louise (Schum) Fisher in Reno, Nevada. George and Edna lived in Reno, Nevada, then Wiota, Iowa, then Wakeeney, Kansas, then back to Reno and retired in Pahrump, Nevada. George worked several jobs over the years; propane delivery, service station/truck stop attendant, school bus driver, custodian (Filpers), and camp ground attendant. George and Edna enjoyed Opry music, gospel music, camping, and traveling cross country to see family and friends. George and Edna enjoyed cheering on the local softball league during their retirement. Edna passed away January 26, 2002. George remained in Pahrump until recently when he relocated to Anita, Iowa to be near family. George enjoyed visiting with friends and family, smoking his pipe, keeping up on recent events, and watching baseball. George was known for being frisky and keeping everyone on their toes. He will be missed by many. George was preceded in death by his wife Edna Wade; his step-daughter Patty Fisher; his parents Harley and Elizabeth Wade, his brother Ray Kaufman; and his uncle Ray Cannon. Survivors include his children: Marcia and husband Norman Cox, Pam and husband Terry Mills, Beth and husband Elwyn Forbes, Cindy and husband David Reynolds, George and wife Marty Fisher, Bill and wife Linda Fisher, Michele and husband Duane Wolfe, Danny and wife Carol Fisher, Mary Fisher, Kathy and husband Randy Hansen, Karen and husband Jon Steffensen, Mary (Frankie) and husband Galen Crozier, Liz and husband Tim McNeal, many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Cemetery:
Inurnment of his cremains will be with his wife Edna at the Grandview Cemetery in Pahrump, Nevada.

Service:
A private family Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
