Gertrude Virginia Bintner, the daughter of Wayne and Gertrude (Whitmore) Fowler, was born October 5, 1928, at Brayton, Iowa and passed away November 25, 2008, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 20 days.
Gertrude attended Bintner Country School and then graduated from Exira High School with the Class of 1947. On November 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Nick Bintner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira. They lived in the Exira and Brayton area. She resided in Brayton until 2003 when she moved to Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.
Gertrudes passions were her family, friends and her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking pictures, scrap-booking, and journaling. She always kept a well stocked candy jar and you couldnt leave without a bag to take home. She was a member of Brayton Legion Auxiliary, Happy-Go-Lucky Club, the Altar and Rosary Society.
Preceding her in death were her parents and Nick Bintner.
Survivors include her children: Doug and Jody Bintner of Casper, Wyoming; Rita and Michael ONeill of Fairview, TX; Greg and Char Bintner of Exira; Philip and Gwen Bintner of Fort Worth, TX; Becky and Mitch Schlater of Council Bluffs, IA and Debbie Dappen of Springfield, NE; her grandchildren: Anna, Nick, Doug and John Bintner; Ryan, Patrick and Brandon ONeill; Jamie McGovern and Brent Bintner; Stacey Eastmanand Brian Bintner; Skyler, Emily, Molly, Abigail, and Christian Schlater; Tony Albertsen, Barrett, Kaleb, and Michaela Dappen; 10 great-grandchildren: her brother James Fowler of Council Bluffs, IA; many other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Exira.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Friday evening at 6:30 followed by a Wake Service at 7:00 at Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
Service:
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Wayne Gubbels, Father Dan Kirby, Father Chris Fontanini and Deacon Darwin Kruseon Saturday, November 28, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira, IA.
