Glenn Harold Stonebraker

Glenn Harold Stonebraker, the son of Albert Charles and Carrie Ella Christensen Stonebraker was born April 15, 1937 at his parents’ home in Audubon Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died November 1, 2011 at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 16 days. Glenn was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. He attended rural school in Audubon Township and then helped operate the family farm. On April 18, 1972 he was united in marriage to Kay Ellen Hall at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They were blessed with five children. They owned and operated farms in Audubon, Cass, Guthrie and Adair Counties. They grew row crops and raised livestock. Glenn farmed until he was forced to retire due to his failing health. He moved to the Exira Care Center on August 10, 2007. Glenn was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa. He had been a member of the Exira Jaycee’s. Glenn enjoyed roller skating, square dancing, fishing and playing cards. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to the park and for ice cream. He always looked for the good in people, taught his children to respect their elders, listen to what they say, and “sit up straight.” Glenn is preceded in death in addition to his parents; his sister: Avis Stonebraker; Thelma and husband LaRue Anderson; his brother Calvin Stonebraker; his sister-in-law Jacqueline Hall; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jack and Ellen Hall. Survivors include his wife Kay Stonebraker of Cumberland, Iowa; his children: Jeanette Stonebraker of West Des Moines, Iowa; Jason Stonebraker of Adair, Iowa; Lisa and husband Richard D. Andersen of Wiota, Iowa; Tami Stonebraker of West Des Moines; Kathy and husband Kevin Hemphill of Sidney, Iowa; his grandchildren: Tyler Hemphill, Colton Hemphill and Guinevere Hemphill all of Sidney; Alexa Andersen of Wiota and Laura Juhl of Atlantic, Iowa; his brother Leo and wife Marjorie Stonebraker of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira.
