Gloria Jean Bonnesen

Gloria Jean Bonnesen, the daughter of Elmer and Erna (Rasmussen) Jacobsen, was born March 19, 1945, at her parents’ home in Kimballton, Iowa and died August 29, 2018, at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 10 days.
Gloria was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Kimballton, Iowa. She attended school in the Kimballton-Elk Horn area and later received her G.E.D.
On July 1, 1962, she was united in marriage to Roger Eugene Bonnesen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with three children Randy, Michelle, and Marcey. Gloria was employed at the Kaltoft Funeral Home where she did the bookwork and also helped with the ambulance service for several years. She was employed at the Cambridge Law Firm as a secretary. Later when Roger opened his auto dealership Gloria was his bookkeeper. Roger died on June 6, 2007. Since that time, Gloria has been the Supervisor of Apparel at Shop-Ko for the past several years.
Gloria was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton, Iowa. She enjoyed being with her family and loved to travel especially with her grandchildren showing them all the interesting and beautiful sites.
Preceding her in death was her husband Roger E. Bonnesen; her parents Elmer Jacobsen and Erna Jacobsen Mortensen; and her step father Alvin Mortensen.
Survivors include her children: Randy and wife Donna Bonnesen of Atlantic, Iowa, Michelle and husband Todd Martens of Griswold, Iowa, and Marcey Gerke of Newell, Iowa; her grandchildren Daniel Bonnesen of Massena, Iowa, Kayla Bonnesen of Bellevue, Nebraska, Molly Martens and Chavis Wise of Elliott. Iowa, Matthew Martens of Griswold, Iowa, Erin Gerke of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Tanner Gerke of Newell, Iowa; her great grandson Hunter Wise of Elliott, Iowa; her best and special friends Cougar, Buddy, and Lucy; other relatives and many friends.
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening September 5, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton, Iowa. The casket bearers will be her grandchildren: Daniel Bonnesen, Kayla Bonnesen, Molly Martens, Matthew Martens, Erin Gerke, and Tanner Gerke. There will be a private family service at a later date.
