Jean Wolfe age 74 of Holt, MO, died at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. She was born a farmer’s daughter on August 4, 1948, near Adair, Iowa, the oldest of Harold and Elnora (Cullen) Sweeney’s four children. Jean attended Country school in Cass County, graduating from Cumberland & Massena High school in 1966.
Jean married the love of her life, Timothy Wolfe on October 27th, 1967, in Rockport, MO. The couple moved to Atlantic, IA and had four kids, Danny, Mike, Scot, and Bonnie. Tim would surprise his loving wife with a bouquet of flowers weekly. The two were a pair and even spent time running a business and driving semi together.
Jean was a wife, mother, (Great) grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She enjoyed learning and experiencing different parts of life. Spending time with loved ones during her time off, including her fur buddies. Jean enjoyed activities like playing softball, bowling, and going on vacations, and would tell stories about her family adventures for years to come.
The first time meeting her Husband Tim and making him show her his driver’s license to prove who he was. Wrecking a car with her youngest brother and him saying how bad of a driver she was. Adventures with her sister when they were growing up. She would often surprise her children’s friends with her stories, like how she would drag race cars and shot mice with a bebe gun.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Timothy J. Wolfe; son, Danny; and brothers, Ed and Timothy Sweeney. Jean is survived by her children, Timothy Mike (Kathy) Wolfe of Atlantic, IA, Scot (Tiffany) Wolfe of Lawson, MO and Bonnie (Troy) Oeltjenbruns of Holt, MO; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; as well as her sister, Rosie (Stan) Schrier of Carbon, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Rev. Garry DeGeest officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakfield Cemetery near Brayton, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 11 AM till the time of services at the funeral home.
