Jeffrey Richard Jensen

Jeffrey Richard Jensen, the son of Delbert and Elizabeth (Oliver) Jensen, was born January 18, 1960, in Audubon, Iowa and died June 21, 2015, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 55 years, 5 months, and 3 days.
Jeff was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended the Audubon Community Schools and was a member of the High School Class of 1978. Jeff worked a variety of jobs until he found his vocation in law enforcement.
On June 21, 1979, he was united in marriage to Linda Fett at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. Three children Tina, Chad, and Angela were born to this union. Jeff was hired by the city of Exira as a police officer. He attended the Police Academy in Des Moines, Iowa graduating in 1982. Jeff served the community of Exira as the Chief of Police for over 32 years until he was forced to retire due to his failing health in 2013.
Jeff was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. He was a member of the Exira Fire Department for over 26 years. Jeff was currently serving on the Exira City Council. Jeff loved watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He enjoyed watching the Fast and Furious movies and watching WWE Wrestling. He was always available to help friends and relatives harvest during the fall and planting in the spring. Jeff enjoyed being with his family especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Clarence and Marietta Fett; and his Aunts and Uncles Charlotte Weber, Bill and Ruth Oliver, and Rebecca and Francis Johnston.
Survivors include his wife Linda Jensen of Exira, Iowa; his children Tina Jensen of Exira, Iowa, Chad and wife Megan Jensen of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Angela Jensen of Exira, Iowa; his grandchildren Jayden Jensen of Exira, Iowa, Emma Jensen and Rylan Jensen both of Nebraska City, Nebraska; his sisters Marsha Jensen of Carroll, Iowa, Vicky and husband Larry Sorensen of Exira, Iowa, Peggy and Vernon Venteicher of Brayton, Iowa and Kimberly and husband Jedidiah of Stratford, Oklahoma; his brothers-in-law Carl and wife Virginia Fett of Topeka, Kansas, Harold and Connie Fett of Muscatine, Iowa, and Dean and Charlotte Fett of Audubon, Iowa; his uncle Dean Weber of Audubon, Iowa; his special grandparents Charles and Joan Sorensen of Audubon, Iowa; a special friend of the family Deb Steinbach of Carroll, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. The honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren Jayden Jensen, Emma Jensen, and Rylan Jensen, the Audubon County Sheriff Department, the Audubon Police Department, the Exira Fire Department, and the Brayton Fire Department. The casket bearers will be Todd Johnson, Matt Starmer, Brian Juelsgaard, Nick Sorensen, Tim Wahlert, Don Greving, and Mike Huegerich. The family will meet with friends Thursday evening at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
