Jerry Leroy Christensen

Jerry Leroy Christensen, the son of Alfred O. and Irene (Faaborg) Christensen, was born September 17, 1937, at his parents’ home near Kimballton, Iowa and died April 22, 2016, at his home in Salina, Kansa at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
Jerry was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended rural school near Audubon then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1956. Jerry then worked as a farm hand for several area farmers.
On January 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Carole Joanne Trumbo at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. Three children Randy, Pamela, and Scott were born to this union. They farmed west of Audubon where they grew row crops and operated a dairy for many years until they decided to sell out in 1984. Jerry was employed by other farmers until 1986 when they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Jerry worked as a security guard for Trammel Crow Company until he retired. Jerry and Carole decided to move to Salina, Kansas where they could be closer to their children. Carole died on June 10, 2014. Jerry continued to enjoy their home.
Jerry was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Salina. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and also was an avid country music fan.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife Carole; was an infant son Randy Christensen; his parents; and his brother-in-law Art Malloy.
Survivors include his children: Pamela Jo Christensen and her life partner Mary Jo Parker; Scott David and wife Dawn Christensen all of Salina, Kansas; his grandchildren: Ashley Nichole and husband Aaron Bennett of Salina, Robert William Hartranft of Phoenix, Arizona; his twin great grandsons: Jack Scott Bennett and James Richard Bennett and Olivia Bennett all of Salina; his sister Donna Malloy of Churdan, Iowa; his brother Paul and wife Sharon Christensen of Audubon, Iowa; his sister-in-law Sheryl and husband Dale Myers of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers will be Mark Kauffman, Brent Myers, Randy Lebeck, Aaron Bennett, and Rick Lebeck. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
