John “Jack” Charles Rasmussen, the son of John and Helen (Clifford) Rasmussen, was born May 14, 1937, at his parents’ home in Jefferson Township, Adair County, south of Menlo, Iowa and died September 1, 2018, at the Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 17 days.
Jack was baptized as an adult at the Church of Christ in Jefferson, Iowa. He attended rural Adair County Schools then graduated from the Menlo High School with the Class of 1957. Jack helped his father operate the family farm. Jack’s father also was a carpenter and built and repaired almost anything. Jack assisted his father and did all the painting. After Jack’s father retired, Jack worked as a painter until he retired. In 2013, Jack moved and made his home in the Atlantic Specialty Care.
Jack was a member of the Church of Christ in Jefferson, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with all his friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister-in-law Terry Jean Rasmussen.
Survivors include his brother Gary L. Rasmussen of Exira, Iowa; his sister Ruth Rhinez of California; his nieces and nephews Joyce Rasmussen and Gary Rasmussen both of Exira, Iowa and Joe Wahlert and Brenda Wahlert both of Arizona.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Services will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Webster on Friday morning September 7, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at the Oakwood Cemetery in Casey, Iowa. The honorary casket bearers will be Gene Murphy, Gary L. Rasmussen, Gary E. Rasmussen, Joyce Rasmussen, Charles Griffith, and Dr. Willie McClaren.
