Jolene Lavoy Rustvold

Jolene Lavoy Rustvold, the daughter of Francis and Kathryn Lorene (Sorensen) Gress, was born August 14, 1945, at her parents’ home in Brighton Township, Cass County, near Marne, Iowa and died January 13, 2013, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 67 years, 4 months, and 29 days. Jolene was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita, Iowa. She attended rural school near her home outside of Anita and then graduated from the Anita High School with the Class of 1963. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she attended beauty school. On November 15, 1964, she was united in marriage to Roy J. Rustvold at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita. Three sons Christian, Kyle, and Jason were born to this union. They lived in Des Moines for a short time and Jolene was employed as a beautician. In 1967 they moved to Audubon, Iowa and Jolene was a homemaker raising their family. Later Jolene was employed as the church secretary for St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 15 years. She worked in the meat department at Super Valu in Audubon for a short time and then was a seamstress at the Friendship Home until she retired due to her failing health. Jolene enjoyed their home then moved to the Friendship Home in October of 2012. Jolene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Jolene and Roy enjoyed camping and spent many summers living in their camper at Littlefield Park southeast of Exira, Iowa. She also enjoyed playing cards, making crafts, and collecting angels. Jolene was preceded in death by her son Kyle Rustvold; her parents; her step-mother Veta Gress; and her sisters-in-law Mary Jo Rustvold and Loretta Rustvold. Survivors include her husband Roy J. Rustvold of Audubon, Iowa; her sons Chris and wife Theresa Rustvold of Audubon, Iowa and Jason Rustvold and companion Daniel Glade of Des Moines, Iowa; her grandchildren Allison, Kyle, and Seth Rustvold all of Audubon, Iowa; her sister Bev Dorsey of Anita, Iowa; her brother Ron and wife Char Gress of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold Rustvold of Audubon, Iowa, Bob Rustvold of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Bill Rustvold of Carroll, Iowa and his wife Connie Rustvold of Audubon, Iowa, Betty and husband Dr. Marvin Nielsen of Tucson, Arizona, Don and wife Lynne Rustvold of Audubon, Iowa, and Ron Rustvold of Carroll, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening January 16, 2013, at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Gordon Buchholz on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
