Kenneth Dale Petersen

July 9, 1937 — March 14, 2014

Kenneth Dale Petersen, the son of Alfred and Mabel Christensen Petersen, was born July 9, 1937, at his parents’ home in Audubon, Iowa and died March 14, 2014, at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 5 days. He attended rural school in Audubon County, Iowa. After school he helped on the family farm. In 1955, he enlisted in to the United States Marine Corp. During his tour of duty he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. On December 24, 1957, he was united in marriage to Nancy Markley at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa. Five children: Rick, Ron, Rhonda, Dennis, and Toni were born to this union. He was employed at 4-Sons in Audubon in for a short time before working at the Audubon Implement in Audubon, Iowa. He then was employed for Schmidt Masonry in Audubon, Iowa where he was a brick layer until he retired. Kenneth enjoyed spending his free time watching T.V. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sister: Levi Petersen; Virgil Petersen; and Norma and husband Don Miller. Survivors include his children: Rick and wife Deb Petersen of Atlantic, Iowa; Ron Petersen of Exira, Iowa; Rhonda and husband Dave Wilkerson of Exira; Dennis and wife Sue Petersen of Carroll, Iowa; Toni and husband Kent Schlater of Exira; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Lil and husband Glee Huey of Audubon, Iowa; Arlene Nelson of Audubon; Allen and wife Diane Petersen of Audubon; Larry and wife Dianna Petersen of Gray, Iowa; his sisters-in-law: Pat Esbeck of Atlantic; and Delores Petersen of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Following cremation, there are no services planned at this time.
