Lloyd Robert Jorgensen

March 15, 1931 — October 27, 2014

Lloyd Robert Jorgensen, the son of Hans Peter and Carrie Marie (Christensen) Jorgensen, was born March 15, 1931, at his parents’ home south of Sharon, Iowa and died October 27, 2014, at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 12 days.
Lloyd was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended several rural schools and the Audubon High School. Lloyd then helped operate the family farm.
On August 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Shirley Parrott in Hiawatha, Kansas. Three children Frank, Debbie, and David were born to this union. They lived on and operated farms west of Audubon. Lloyd helped his father raise livestock and grew row crops. In the early 1960’s Lloyd and Shirley purchased land west of Audubon where not only did they raise crops but also had a small herd of milk cows. Later they purchased additional land to add to the existing farm. During the summers and winters, Lloyd would drive semi-trucks loaded with frozen meat to the west coast and then return with a truck load of produce. For the past twenty years he drove for Gene Fenton driving his last load when he was 78 years old. Lloyd loved farming and working with the soil. In fact he even planted all his crops this spring. He enjoyed his home moving to the Thomas Rest Haven on September 25, 2014.
Lloyd was a life-long member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. He participated and enjoyed auto racing. Lloyd raced in the 1950’s and 1960’s driving along side of many of the racing legends of that time. He attended many auto shows and truck shows and looked forward to his yearly visit to the Iowa State Fair. But what was most important to him was his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sisters H.P. Jorgensen, Jr., Patricia Schurer, and Sharlene and husband Mike Jensen; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lyle “Louie” Murray, Audrey Jorgensen, LaVern Krauel, Gordon Wealch, Denny and wife Margaret Parrott, Maxine Bruner, Twilla and husband Don Worthington, Burdette “Shorty” and wife Peggy Parrott, Lynn Parrott, Mildred and husband Joe Casey, Norene Jones, Zoe and husband Earl Beltz, and Ruby and husband Bill Millhollin.
