Lois Maxine Riesgaard

Lois Maxine Riesgaard, the daughter of Peter and Laura Tibben Schwab, was born June 25, 1923, at her parents home south of Brayton, Iowa and died March 28, 2011 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 3 days.
Lois was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. She attended rural school in Oakfield Township near Brayton, Iowa then helped on the family farm.
On December 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Merne D. Riesgaard at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Atlantic, Iowa. Three children Bonnie, Calvin, and Vickie were born to this union. They lived east of Exira where they operated the family farm. They grew grain and raised livestock for over 50 years before retiring. Lois always had a large garden and enjoyed cooking family meals. During retirement Lois and Merne enjoyed traveling and took many cruises. They enjoyed their regular trips to the casinos. Merne died June 26, 2006. Lois lived on the farm then later moved into Exira.
Lois was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. She belonged to the Thursday afternoon Brayton Pinochle Club and attended the Sunday evening group. Lois enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for all her grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Merne; her parents; her brothers Floyd Schwab and Marvin (Jack) Schwab; her sisiters Beulah Paulsen, Florence and husband Emmert Lauridsen; and a brother-in-law Milo Riesgaard.
Survivors include her children: Bonnie and husband Jim Lynam of Exira; Calvin and wife Debra Riesgaard of Yankton, SD; and Vickie and husband Dennis Foresman of Warrensburg, MO; her grandchildren: Chris and wife Tammy Lynam of Shawnee Mission, KS; Dr. Laura Lynam of Tacoma, WA; Amanda and husband Dale Nelson of Iowa City, IA; Emily Lynam of Denver, CO,; Brandon Riesgaard of Omaha, NE; Alison and husband Devin Anderson of Yankton, SD; Megan Riesgaard of Denver, CO; Kevin and wife Carolina Foresman of Columbus, OH; and Amy Foresman of Columbia, MO; her great-grandchildren: Evan and Maria Lynam of Shawnee Mission and Alexander and Aeriel Nelson of Iowa City; her sister Doris Schlater of Exira; her brothers-in-law Harley and wife Madonna Riesgaard of Exira; Eldon and wife Agnes Riesgaard of Avoca, IA; Darold and wife Pat Riesgaard of Aurora., CO; Emmert Paulsen of Exira; her sisters-in-law Phyllis Schwab of Atlantic, IA; Gladys Riesgaard of Audubon, IA; Mildred Schwab of Exira; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa

Visitation:
The family will meet with firends Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock and Pastor Nancy Jensen on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa
