Loren Douglas Griffin

     Loren Douglas Griffin, the son of Loren Edwin and Flossi Ann (Anderson) Griffin, was born October 24, 1954, and died January 4, 2024, at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 69 years, 2 months, and 10 days.


     Doug was baptized at the Baptist Church in Guthrie Center, Iowa. He attended several rural schools then went to the Adair-Casey High School. Following his schooling, he was employed at the Amaco filling station in Adair for a short time. Later he drove semis hauling trusses for ADR. Doug developed a passion for over-the-road trucking. Over the years he drove for a number of trucking companies, after his accident, Doug started his own trucking company, Doug Griffin and Sons and later, D & E Trucking INC. Doug hauled all types of freight from coast to coast for many years and then retired from driving yet remained involved being a dispatcher.


     Doug was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and enjoyed watching Dan Mario when he played. Doug enjoyed watching old westerns and especially enjoyed watching his sons participating in their many activities. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.


     Doug was preceded in death by his wife Etta Griffin; his granddaughter Hadleigh Griffin; his parents, his sister Pam Cullen; his aunts and uncles Edri, Dale, Zoe, and Dave Griffin; and his niece Nichole Schafer.


     Survivors include his son Shane Griffin of Nevada, Iowa, daughter Crystal and husband Gregg Curtis of Grimes, Iowa, sons Curtis and wife Stacey Griffin of Glenwood, Iowa, Cody Griffin of Elk Horn, Iowa, and Brady Griffin and his fiancé Ashlie Heuss both of Audubon, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brothers and sister Sandy Ramm of North Carolina, Jim Griffin of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeff and wife Danielle Griffin of Waverly, Nebraska; his uncles and aunts David Lee and wife Donna Anderson of Exira, Iowa, Lois and husband Harvey Seidel of Wyoming; and his niece Kate Schafer of West Des Moines, Iowa.


     The family will greet friends on Saturday morning, January 13, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Saturday morning, January 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. Honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren: Faylynn Griffin, McKynlee Griffin, Harper Griffin, Sloane Griffin, Lexi Uren, Kate Griffin, Emma Griffin, and Hadleigh Griffin* and great grandchildren Weston Uren and Stetson Uren.
