Margaret Marie Campbell

Margaret Marie Campbell, the daughter of Andrew and Hannah (Christensen) Norby, was born October 27, 1918, at her parents’ home in Whitewood, South Dakota, and died June 1, 2013 at the Senior Suites of Urbandale in Urbandale, Iowa the age of 94 years, 7 months, and 4 days. Margaret was baptized May 5, 1920, and confirmed June 7, 1953 at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa. She attended rural school in Greeley Center, Audubon County, Iowa, and then helped at home. On December 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to William F. Campbell at her parent’s home in Hamlin. Margaret and Bill operated farms southwest and northeast of Hamlin before purchasing their farm west of Hamlin in 1947. They farmed for over 50 years before retiring in 1979. Bill died August 12, 1989. Margaret lived on the farm for a short time then moved into an apartment in Audubon. In October of 1997, she purchased a town home in Urbandale, Iowa to be closer to her family. Later she moved to the Senior Suites of Urbandale for assisted living. Margaret was a member of the Hamlin Lutheran Church and the Church Ladies Aide. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband William F. Campbell; her son Richard Campbell; her parents; her maternal grandparents Carl C. and Ane Marie (Jensen) Christensen; her brother Carl and wife Rosella Norby; and her niece and nephews: Brenda Cole; Carl Norby, Jr.; and Greg Edwards. Survivors include her son Robert Norby and wife Prudy Campbell of Johnston, Iowa; her grandchildren: Patricia Jayne (P.J.) and husband Mark Heinz of Ackley, Iowa; Kathryn Diane (K.C.) Rottinghaus of Urbandale, Iowa; her great grandchildren: Madison Jayne Heinz and Meghan Marie Heinz both of Ackley; Kenzie Leanne Rottinghaus and Tyler Jacob Rottinghaus both of Urbandale; her sisters-in-law: Ruth and husband Dale Edwards and Harriet Campbell all of Audubon, Iowa; her nieces and nephews: Andrew and wife Barbara Norby of Decatur, Indiana; Jim and wife Irene Norby of Tucson, Arizona; Jeff and wife Susan Edwards of Vinton, Iowa; Jim Edwards of Audubon; Tom and wife Mary Ann Campbell of Omaha, Nebraska; Paul and wife Deb Campbell of Hamlin, Iowa; JoAnn and husband Al Kring of La Porte, Indiana; Roslyn and husband Robert Steele of Danville, California; Ruth Ann Halvorsen of Adel, Iowa; Betty and husband Dennis Miller of Audubon; and Barbara and husband Dan Smith of Exira, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Hamlin Lutheran Cemetery in Hamlin.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday morning at 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa.
