Marion Darlene "Dancing Darlene" Hansen

Marion Darlene Hansen, the daughter of, Oliver and Blanche (Wisted) Johnson, was born June 13, 1939, at the General Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and died May 13, 2019, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 79 years and 11 months.
Darlene was baptized October 5, 1947, and confirmed June 28, 1953, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Audubon, Minnesota. She attended the Audubon, Minnesota Community Schools then graduated from the Clawson, Michigan High School with the Class of 1957.
On February 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to Darrel Hansen at the Elk Horn Lutheran Parsonage in Elk Horn, Iowa. They were blessed with three children Scott, Brent, and Shellie. Darlene was a stay at home mother until all the children reached school age then was employed at the News Advocate as a type setter and selling ads. She worked there for several years then worked as a waitress/hostess at Vic’s Main Tap, the Carrollton Inn, Cousins, and other local restaurants until her health began to fail.
Darlene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to dance, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, helping others and being involved in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.
Preceding her in death was Darrel Hansen, her parents; her brother Marvin Johnson; and her brother-in-law Herbert Weissinger.
Survivors include her children Scott “Rookie” and wife Julie Hansen of Audubon, Iowa, Brent “Cookie” and wife Linda Hansen of Elk Horn, Iowa, and Shellie and husband Paul Madsen of Audubon, Iowa; her grandchildren Lindsey and husband Joel Pingel of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Andrew and wife Darrin Hansen of Baxter, Iowa, Margaret and husband Ryan Lamparek of North Liberty, Iowa, Daniel and wife Amy Madsen of Hamlin, Iowa, Katie Madsen of Des Moines, Iowa; her great grandchildren Ava and Nolan Pingel of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Charley, Henry, and Scotty Hansen all of Baxter, Iowa, Ashlyn Pruitt, Austin Pruitt, Lilly Madsen and Everly Madsen all of Hamlin, Iowa; her sisters Carol Ann and husband Dale Schneider of Arcadia, Michigan, Barbara Weissinger of St. Petersburg, Florida, her aunts Elaine Oss of Elk River, Minnesota, and Arlene Restad of Eagan, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
