Marjorie Mae Miller

June 10, 1934 — February 2, 2015

Marjorie Mae Miller, the daughter of Juel Christensen and Martha Marie (Poulsen) Miller, was born June 10, 1934, at her parents’ home in Hamlin Township Audubon County, Iowa and died February 2, 2015, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
Marjorie was baptized and confirmed at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa. She attended grade school at Pymosa No 2 School in Cass County and Douglas No 6 School in Audubon County. Marjorie graduated from the Viola High School in Viola, Iowa with the Class of 1954. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she was employed as a housekeeper for a time, then moved to Harlan, Iowa and worked as a Nurses’ Aide for a short time. Marjorie then was a Nurses’ Aide at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa for 36 years until she retired in 1996. Marjorie enjoyed her home in Des Moines and in 2006 moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon.
Marjorie was a member of the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa. While living in Des Moines she enjoyed singing in the choir at Grand View Lutheran Church.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Juel and Martha Miller; and her nephew Erik Shinofield.
Survivors include her brother, Lee and wife Sandy Miller of Crete, Nebraska and her sister, Linda and husband Richard Shinofield of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her five nieces and nephews: David and wife Sue Miller of Lincoln, Nebraska, Steven Miller and daughter Melissa of Omaha, Nebraska, Ann and husband Derek Armstrong and children Jordan and Erik of McDonough, Georgia, Joel and wife Aubrey Shinofield and sons Luke, Soren, and Reed of Norfolk, Virginia, and Susan True and son Micky of Berkley, California; cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Friendship Home for the exceptional care given to her through the years.
