Marvin Russell Thygesen

January 19, 1932 — January 18, 2011

Marvin Russell Thygesen, the son of Ejner S. and Anna Jacobsen Thygesen, was born January 19, 1932 at his parents home in Viola Township Audubon County, Iowa and died January 18, 2011 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 29 days.
Marvin was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended rural schools and then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation, he farmed with his father and also worked for Bell Telephone Company installing rural telephone lines.
On August 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Donna Jean Ludwig in Maryville, Missouri. Five children: Becky, Teresa, Terry, Patti, and Connie were born to this union. From 1957 until 1995, they farmed west of Audubon until they retired from farming. Also during this time and for many years thereafter, Marvin worked part time as a truck driver for T.R. Andersen Trucking hauling grain and livestock. During retirement, Marvin and Donna lived on their farm west of Audubon. Donna died March 21, 2004 and Marvin continued living on their farm.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Donna; his parents; his brothers-in-law Darwin Ludwig and Walter Dreier.
Survivors include his children: Becky and husband Steve Randeris of Audubon, Iowa; Teresa and husband Dwight Boysen of Custer, South Dakota; Terry Thygesen of Audubon; Patti and husband Joe Horan of Carlisle, Iowa; Connie Golightly of Earlham, Iowa; his grandchildren: Stacey, Amy, and Matthew Randeris; Zachary Boysen and Mikala Golightly; his step grandchildren: Holly, April, Chrissy, Lesley, Doug, and Jenny; his step great grandchildren: Gavin, Maddie, Tanner, Logan, and Kayl; his sister Alice Dreier of Audubon; his brother Wayne and wife Phyllis Thygesen of Lebanon, Missouri; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Glen and wife Pearle Ludwig of San Bernardino, California; William (Bill) and wife Janice Ludwig of Shenandoah, Iowa and Nadine Ludwig of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp and Pastor Steven Frock on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
