Michael Dean Schmidt

Michael Dean Schmidt, the son of Dean Alan and Julie Renea (Schulte) Schmidt, was born November 1, 1991, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa and died October 20, 2013, from injuries received in an auto accident near Gray, Iowa at the age of 21 years, 11 months, and 19 days. Michael was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 2010. Michael was employed as a driver for Audubon Ready Mix and also employed as a carpenter with Twin Construction in Audubon. Michael enjoyed spending special time with his Grandfather Duane fishing. He was an avid Denver Bronco’s fan. Michael attended many country and rock concerts. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, spending time hanging out with his friends, and taking care of his faithful companion Otis (his cat). Preceding him in death were his grandfather Lester Schulte; his grandmother Lois Schmidt; his grandfather James Mullenger; and his cousin Nicholas Bock. Survivors include his mother Julie R. Schmidt of Audubon, Iowa; his father Dean and wife Julie K. Schmidt of Audubon; his brother and sisters: Bradley Schmidt and girlfriend Beth Henderson both of West Des Moines, Iowa; Leslie Roseboom and fiancé Terry Miracle both of Audubon; Taylor Roseboom of Des Moines, Iowa; Samantha Warnaca of Audubon; his grandparents: Duane Schmidt of Audubon; Virlee Mullenger of Hamlin, Iowa; Marlene and Mike Vanderheiden of Carroll, Iowa; his aunts and uncles: Joan and Gary Fancher of Audubon; Dan and Chris Schmidt of Audubon; Terry Schmidt of Atlantic, Iowa; Ron and Darla Mullenger of Hamlin; Lori and John Bolick of Gray, Iowa, Connie and Keith Lauridsen of Norfolk, Nebraska; Joan and Craig Augustus of Carroll; Randy and Petra Schulte of Auburn, Iowa; Cindy and Greg Hacker of Carroll; Terry Schulte of Auburn; Coleen Serfoss of Austin, Texas; Joel and Heather Schulte of Carroll; Marty and Jody Vanderheiden of Carroll; Michele Vanderheiden of Des Moines; cousins, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa.
