Norma June Madsen

June 4, 1924 — March 12, 2015

Norma June Madsen, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Daughenbaugh) Poch, was born June 4, 1924, in Atlantic, Iowa and died March 12, 2015, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 8 days.
Norma was baptized as an adult at the Exira Care Center by her son Robert Madsen. She attended the Atlantic Community Schools.
On June 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arthur Peter Madsen. Thirteen children were born to this union. Norma was a homemaker and her greatest joy was caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking. The aroma of fresh baked bread filled the home each day. Norma always had a large garden and enjoyed canning all types of produce. Art died in October of 1987. Norma lived at home but enjoyed traveling to visit her children in the many different states where they lived. Later in March of 2010 she moved to the Exira Care Center.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Peter Madsen; her children Arthur Madsen, Sondra Anderson, and Perry Madsen; her parents; her brother Clyde and wife Elsie Woolsey; her sisters Donna and husband Norman Oehlertz, and Shirley and husband Clyde Jensen; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mable and husband Chuck Petersen; Margaret and husband Edward Mortensen; Leonard and wife Hazel Madsen; Emmert and wife Norma M. Madsen, Earnest and wife Norma N. Madsen, and Richard Petersen.
Survivors include her children Brenda Parker of Ivanhoe, Texas, Robert and wife Janet Madsen of Storm Lake, Iowa, Douglas and Deborah Madsen of Spring Branch, Texas, Nancy and husband Vincent Cascardo of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, Monta and husband David Bahus of Dover, Arkansas, Brian and wife Toni Madsen of Conway, Arkansas, Connie and husband Robert Hempstead of St. Paul, Minnesota, Doyle Madsen of Exira, Iowa, Kelly Madsen and Mark Madsen both of Chico, California; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; her sister Rose Marie Petersen of Avoca, Iowa; her brother Harold and wife Eileen Poch of Atlantic, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The honorary casket bearers will be Carey Ballou, Robert Hempstead, Eric Madsen, and David Bahus. The casket bearers will be Josh Madsen, Kevin Madsen, Jeff Madsen, Scott Madsen, Bruce Jensen, Mike Petersen, Alan Petersen, and Jason Huffman.
