Norma Ruth Dominick

Norma Ruth Dominick, the daughter of Roy and Viola (Fisch) Kelly was born March 25, 1929, in Oyens, Iowa, and died September 7, 2013, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 12 days. Norma was baptized and confirmed at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. She attended St. Catherine’s Parochial School in Oyens and then graduated from the Le Mars High School with the Class of 1947. She then was employed as a clerk at J.C. Penny’s. On February 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to Marvin James Dominick at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa. Five children: Diane, Mark, Gary, Michael, and Jon were born to this union. They lived in Le Mars and Humboldt, Iowa. During this time Norma was a homemaker raising their children and was active in the local parish. In 1964, they moved to Audubon, Iowa where they purchased Marv’s Super Market. Norma not only was a homemaker during this time but also was the book keeper for the grocery store until they sold the business in 1985. They lived in Audubon until October of 2010 when they moved to Sioux City and lived with their son Gary. Marvin died October 21, 2011. Norma lived with Gary then moved to the Holy Spirit Retirement Home on December 31, 2012. Norma was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa and was active in the Altar Rosary Society. Norma enjoyed music and was an avid reader. She always had a beautiful flower garden. She enjoyed having coffee with her many friends and spending time with her family. Preceding her in death is her husband Marvin J. Dominick; her son Jon Dominick; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Eldon Kelly; George Kelly; Dorothy and husband Howard Cook; Mary and husband Lorne Kneip; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lyle Dominick; Mary Ann Kelly; Shirley Sitzmann; and Laura Betsworth. Survivors include her children: Diane Dominick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Dr. Mark and wife Sally Dominick of Evansville, Indiana; Gary and wife Holly Dominick of Sioux City, Iowa; Michael and wife Abby Dominick of Joplin, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her brother Ronald Kelly of Le Mars, Iowa; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Britta Kelly of Topeka, Kansas; Phyllis Kelly of Tucson, Arizona; Ray and wife Marlene Dominick of Des Moines, Iowa; Beverly and husband John Harmelink of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Harold Sitzmann of Le Mars; Delores Dominick of Scottsdale, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.



Visitation:
The family will meet friends Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 10:30 A.M at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa.
