Paul Alan Petersen

Paul Alan Petersen, the son of James and Ruth Herrick Petersen, was born February 13, 1958 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa and died June 29, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 56 years, 4 months, and 16 days. Paul was baptized and confirmed at the Federated Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended Exira Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1976. Paul began his career in farming in 1974. He grew row crops and raised livestock. On November 14, 1981, he was united in marriage to Laurie Sue Jeppesen at the Assembly of God Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Three sons: Nicholas, Benjamin, and Joel were born to this union. Paul continued to farm and also worked various jobs around the area. The past four years he served as an associate pastor at the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center near Oakland, Iowa where he was a member. Prior to pastoring Paul, served as a Gideon. He was in charge of the records for St. John’s Cemetery west of Exira, Iowa. Paul loved the word of the Lord, loved his family and loved to farm. Paul was preceded in death by his father James Petersen; his brother David Petersen; and his brother-in-law Timothy Jeppesen. He is survived by his wife Laurie Petersen of Exira, Iowa; his sons: Nicholas and wife Janell Petersen and their son Hudson Paul; Benjamin and wife Vera Petersen all of Omaha, Nebraska; Joel and wife Faith Petersen and their daughters Mae and Penelope all of Treynor, Iowa; his mother Ruth Petersen of Exira; his brother Jon Petersen and wife Katie Organ of Riverside, Iowa; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lyle and Colleen Jeppesen of Anita, Iowa; his brother-in-law Duane and wife Marla Jeppesen of Harrisonville, Missouri; his sister-in-law Chris Jeppesen of Kansas City, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery west of Exira, Iowa at 2:30 P.M.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Michael Kalstrup and Dr. William Jenkins on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at the Fellowship of Faith Church Christian Center near Oakland, Iowa.
