Richard John Wolf

April 7, 1941 — April 5, 2023

     Richard John Wolf was born on April 7th, 1941 to Kenneth and Bertha (Schafer) Wolf in Franklin County, Nebraska in his grandparent’s farm house.


     The oldest of three, Richard was soon joined by sister Kathy Lammers and brother Curt Wolf.


     Rich spent his childhood working alongside his father on the farm raising crops and livestock. Upon graduation from Riverton High School, he joined the National Guard and then moved to Colorado.


     Rich and Karen’s first date at the skating rink proved to be a life-long partnership; Rich and Karen were married on November 6th, 1960.


     Early in their marriage Rich and Karen lived in Colorado where their first daughter Natalie (Lange) was born. Rich worked for a farm chemical company in Longmont Colorado until they moved back to Inavale Nebraska. After moving back to southern Nebraska, Nikki (Crawford) and Randy were born.


     In 1971 they moved to Clarence Iowa where Rich was regional salesman for Triple F Feeds. In 1979 he purchased part of, and managed the Purina Feed Store in Audubon and Exira, Iowa. He was an active member of the T-Bone Club and was grand marshal at the T-Bone parade in 2022. He was a member of, and President of the Audubon Chamber of Commerce. After getting out of the feed business he hauled grain and livestock for Asberry Trucking and also worked for Gleason Farms. Most recently he worked as a currier for AMVC. He loved to have coffee with the guys at the Purina Feed Store and continued to meet for coffee at the Bakery in Audubon. He worked until he was over 80. When Rich retired, he and Karen took many road trips throughout the United States. Rich loved to hang out with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.


     Survived by wife Karen, children Natalie and Randy Lange of Audubon, IA Nikki and Jeff Crawford of Kansas City, MO and Randy and Jennifer of Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren Lindy and Kurt Ferguson of Murray NE, Shane and Molly Lange of Audubon IA, Grace and Justin Beam of Windsor Heights IA Great grandchildren, Ava, Cooper & Lucy Ferguson; Quinn, Nolan & Gavin Lange and Mia Beam. He is survived by his sister Kathy and brother Curt and friend Terri, brother-in-law Nick and Patti Blankenbaker and many nieces and nephews.


     He was preceded in death by his parents Bertha and Kenneth Wolf, in-laws Neal Blankenbaker and Ruth Jeffers, brother-in-law Rich Lammers, sister-in-law Sherita and Walt Thomas and Stan Blankenbaker.  


     The family would like you join them at the Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering at the Audubon Recreation Center on Monday afternoon, April 10th from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm for a celebration of Rich’s life. The family prefers donations to the Audubon Fire Department.
