Robert Lee Landon, the son of John Dallas and Margaret Ann Zallaha Landon was born October 6, 1939 in Lakefield, Minnesota and died March 11, 2014 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Bob was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota and was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa. He attended Atlantic Community Schools in Atlantic, Iowa graduating with the High School Class of 1957. On May 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Harter at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. Seven children: Kathy, Randy, Dwaine, Scott, Darreld, Denise, and Carol were born to this union. In 1960, they moved to Santa Rosa, California where he was employed as a union iron worker building skyscrapers. In 1973, they moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he along with his cousin David Wright, went into business together building metal buildings. In 1976, they moved back to Atlantic, Iowa. He was employed as a union iron worker until they made their home in Exira, Iowa in 1977. He then started his own construction company, Landon Construction. Later they purchased the Town and Country Hardware and Lumber in Exira, Iowa until he retired in 2002 due to his health. Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed going hunting with his dogs. He loved watching Nascar or any sporting event but always enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed playing pool, cribbage, or any type of card game. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Robert was preceded in death by his infant grandson Jamie Landon; his granddaughter Holly Jorgensen; his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Dale and Velma Harter; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law: JoAnn and Gary Hulsebus. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Landon of Exira, Iowa; his children: Kathy Jorgensen of Exira, Iowa; Randy and wife Pennie Landon of Firestone, Colorado; Dwaine and wife Jodi Landon of Seward, Nebraska; Scott and wife Teresa Landon of Davenport, Iowa; Darreld and wife Barbara Landon of Fairfax, Iowa; Denise and husband John Asberry of Exira; Carol and husband William Coats, II of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his grandchildren: Brian Jorgensen; Shane Jorgensen and special friend Caitlin Sprague; Anne Jorgensen and special friend Charles Slayton; Abby Landon; Spencer Landon; Erin and husband Jason Schmidt; Kirk and wife Lauren Landon; Cara Landon; Grace Landon; Levi Landon and special friend Saharra Rangel; Noah Landon; Elizabeth Landon; Margaret Landon and special friend Nacu Hernandez; Joseph Landon; Nicole and husband Cody Seaman; Sarah Asberry and fiancé Richard Metson; Charlie Asberry and special friend Stephanie Brannan; Jan Asberry; Brent Asberry; Jordan Gearheart and special friend Cory Fowble; Landon Coats; Braylyn Coats; Morgan Coats; and William Coats III; his great grandchildren: Macie, Charlie, Finley, and Huxley Seaman; Alexis and Briea Schmidt; and Beck Landon; his sister Audrey Landon and her significant other Carol Wesson of Santa Rosa; his brother Dallas Landon of Santa Rosa and Lula Landon of Astoria, New York; his brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law: Larry and wife Alice Harter of Des Moines, Iowa; Phyllis and husband Tim Jensen of Hamlin, Iowa; Rick Harter and Corene Lewis of Exira, Iowa; Jerry Harter and Gail Parks of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira and again Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the Exira Lutheran Church.

Service:
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa.
