Ronald Gordon Hallett

Ronald Gordon Hallett, the son of Gordon and Abivine (Bane), Hallett, was born November 7, 1935, in Cooke County near Chicago, Illinois and died September 21, 2016, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 14 days.
Ron was baptized as an adult in Brownsville, Texas. He attended Brookfield-Riverside schools near Chicago then graduated from High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. On August 3, 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines. During his tour of duty he served as a radio operator and was stationed in Korea. On August 8, 1955, he was honorably discharged and returned to Indianapolis where he was employed at Western Electric.
In July of 1957, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Brinker. Four children Sandy, Sharon, Patty, and Michael were born to this union. Ron was transferred to the Omaha office in 1958. He worked as a machinist in molding. While working in Omaha he was elected as a wage incentive negotiator for the IBEW Union. While serving in that capacity he negotiated a large sum for his fellow union members. Ron also worked with engineers and taught classes on molding until he retired after working for Western Electric for over 33 years.
On April 10, 1981, he married Delores Crom Williams in Las Vegas, Nevada. They soon adopted Delores’s children Kim, Kathy, and Troy and blended their families together. They made their home near Beaver Lake, Nebraska for several years then moved to Griswold, Iowa in 1995 and later to Atlantic, Iowa in 2002. After Ron and Delores both retired from Western Electric they team drove semis over the road until they retired in 2007. In 2011 they purchased an RV Bus and traveled around the United States finally settling in Brownsville, Texas. They then moved to Audubon, Iowa in July of 2016.
Ron spent his life helping people around him. Ron had a pilot’s licensed and enjoyed traveling by air. He always enjoyed sports and when he was younger he coached baseball and an avid Chicago Bears and the Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan and spent many enjoyable hours watching them play. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death was his son Michael Ronald Hallett; his son-in-law John Bierbaum; his grandson Brent Hallett; his great grandsons Izayah Pedrin and Dominick Elkins; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife Delores Hallett of Audubon, Iowa; his children Sandy Bierbaum of Griswold, Iowa, Sharon and husband Todd Weist of Erie, Colorado, Patty and husband Kelvin D. Smith of Locust Grove, Arkansas, Kim Hallett of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy and husband Terry Pedrin of Audubon, Iowa, and Troy and wife Bobbi Hallett of Percival, Iowa; his grandchildren Curtis Bierbaum, John Bierbaum, Jr. and his wife Hannah, Kristy and husband Scott Wood, Patrick Proctor, Jay and wife Jessica Pedrin , Rebecca Custer, Christopher Gale, Patrick Litle, Amanda Hallett, Courtney Hallett, his step grandchildren Stephanie and Felicia Petersen, Nikki Nicely, Katie Nicely, and Jordan Nicely; his great grandchildren Grayson and Harper Wood, Lucius Pedrin, Jay Pedrin, Jr., Rachael Pedrin ; his sister Joy and husband Jim Smith of Griswold,; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted by Dr. Charles Kathurima M. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s Parish Center in Audubon, Iowa. Inurnment will be at a later date. The honorary casket bearers will be Troy Hallett, Curtis Bierbaum, Jay Pedrin, John Bierbaum, Jr., Patrick Litle, and Patrick Proctor. The family will meet with friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
