Ronald John Jones

Ronald John Jones, son of Beaulah Shaw Jones, was born July 17, 1947 in South Gate, California and died September 25, 2013 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 66. Ronald was baptized in the Methodist church, attended Roosevelt Jr. High and then graduated from Lynnwood High School. On October 18, 1965, he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his tour of duty he served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967. He returned to California where he was employed for the Lyons Steel Company as a Punch Press Operator. Ronald was united in marriage to Kathleen Conner in California. Two children, Tina and Brian, were born of this union. They lived in California before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada where he was employed as a security guard; later moving back to California. Ron later moved to Gray, Iowa and was employed as a truck driver for Gene Fenton for many years before he had to retire due to health problems. He lived in Gray until he moved to Friendship Village in Audubon, Iowa in March, 2013. Ron was a western movie fan especially watching John Wayne movies. He enjoyed many hours watching the Three Stooges with his son Brian. He also enjoyed going to the Farmers Market, attending SWAP meets and spending time at the Salton Sea where he would camp and fish. Ron loved his two dogs, Nick (Nicky) and Tiny, who meant the world to him. Ron will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Preceding him in death was his mother and sister Shirley Velasco. Survivors include his children: Tina Gilbert in California and Brian Jones in California; his grandchildren: Cortney, Trevor, Tyler, Sean, Sarah and Michael; his brother and sister: David Ramey and Jeanne Uncapher, both of Clearfield, Utah; his special cousin, Danny Coffield, who was like a brother to him and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
