Rory Allen Davis

November 7, 1960 — June 1, 2023

Rory Allen Davis passed into the loving arms of Jesus on June 1, 2023 at his home in Columbia, Missouri. Rory was born on November 7, 1960 in Harlan Iowa. He grew up in Audubon, Iowa with his parents Jerry and Joan Davis and younger sisters Tonya and Ginger.

As a child he was very artistic and a talented musician. Music continued to be a big part of his life. He loved playing the drums with his dad and later in the high school band. With the family, he enjoyed many vacations. He loved to water ski at Lake of the Ozarks and other fun activities with the family. He always loved to travel.

He graduated from Audubon High School with the class of 1979. He then went on to electrical school in Sheldon, Iowa for two years. After he graduated he worked for the Burlington Railroad in Olwein Iowa as an electrician until the railroad closed the terminal. Later he attended AIB Business College in Des Moines and graduated with a degree in accounting.

While in Des Moines he met his future wife and together they moved to Columbia, Missouri and started a family. To this union three children were born, Cody, Nicholas and Caitlyn. Rory was a small business owner cleaning commercial and      residential carpets. He continued this service until health issues caused him to retire.

Rory loved all kinds of music, country, jazz, rock, blues and gospel. He found joy in listening to his stereo, playing his drums and later his guitar. Woodworking and antiquing were other hobbies. He was a true craftsman working with wood and refinishing old furniture. He spent weekends going to antique shops, finding beautiful, rare antique furniture, lamps and glassware. He took pride in showing off these treasures to friends and family. He enjoyed old movies and going to live concerts. Seeing Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard were some of his favorites. He enjoyed getting together with family and sharing funny family stories.

Rory was a devoted Christian who studied the Bible regularly. Rory was Baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon and was confirmed on September 5 1971. Later he attended Christian Fellowship Church in Columbia, Missouri. Rory knew the Lord was his comforter and Savior. He knew that God was with him through good times and challenges in life. The Lord gave him strength.

Rory is survived by his children Cody, Nicholas and Caitlyn and grandson Alistair all of Columbia, Missouri, his parents Jerry and Joan Davis, sisters Tonya Christensen (Brian), Ginger Meyer (Dave), nephews Ben Christensen, Jess Christensen, Lydia Meyer and Jackson Meyer.
