Rose Marie Larsen

Rose Marie Larsen, the daughter of Olen Wilt and Mary Jane (Gaule) Collar, was born April 19, 1927, at her parents’ home in Bedford, Iowa and died October 9, 2014, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
Rose was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Bedford, Iowa. She attended the Bedford Community Schools and the Bedford High School.
In 1941, Rose was united in marriage to Harold Hensley, Sr. in Bedford, Iowa. Three sons, Lawrence (who died in infancy), Harold, Jr., and Jerry Lee were born to this union. They lived in Bedford for several years then moved to the Exira, Iowa area.
In 1956 she married Edwin Larsen in Maryville, Missouri. They adopted one son Robert Larsen. They lived on and operated a farm in Guthrie County where they raised registered Quarter horses and Hereford cattle. Rose helped on the farm and then was employed at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa as a CNA and activities director. After she retired, Rose moved to a small farm north of the Hamlin Cemetery where she boarded horses.
Rose was involved in various organizations over the years including the Harlan Saddle Club and the AQHA. Many of the neighbors remembered the yearly Larsen Trail Ride.
Preceding her in death was her son Lawrence Hensley; her husband Edwin Larsen; her parents; her brothers Sam Collar, Robert Collar and his wife Betty, and Donald Collar; and her brother-in-law Robert Johannes.
Survivors include her sons; Harold, Jr (Gene) and wife Darlene Hensley and their children Rebecca and husband Paul Wiebelhaus, Michael Hensley and Jennifer Lanoha, and Rachelle Hensley all of Omaha, Nebraska; Jerry Lee and wife Londa Hensley and their children Brenda and David Esaias all of Clarinda, Iowa, Edwin Hensley and friend Jennifer Beemer of Bedford, Iowa, and Melinda and husband Chuck Douglas of Newton, Iowa; Robert Larsen of Guthrie County, Iowa and his two children; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her sister Shirley Johannes of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
