Ruby Jane Paulsen

Ruby Jane Paulsen, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Mumgaard) Beck, was born March 13, 1925, in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa and passed away February 23, 2018, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 10 days.

Ruby Jane was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern Paulsen; her parents; her brothers and sisters, Eva Beck, Rejner and wife, Viola Beck, Egon and wife, Gladys Beck, Vera and husband, Leonard Vorm, Ebba and husband, Arnold Nissen, Rhoda and husband, Ranny Kelloway and brother-in-law, Charles Smalley.

Ruby Jane is survived by her children, Sandra and husband, Garry Baker of Grimes, IA, James Paulsen of Omaha, NE and friend Joyce Koler of Elkhorn, NE, and Melissa and husband, Allen Stark of Council Bluffs, IA; her grandchildren Perry and wife Jen Miller of Ottumwa, IA, Tobin Miller and significant other Tricia Godwin of Des Moines, IA, Erica and husband, Ryan McMahon of Elkhorn, NE, Brooke and husband, Will Kirby of Overland Park, KS, Sierra and husband, Jake Leggett of Council Bluffs, IA; great-grandchildren, Ryder Miller, Connor McMahon, Aiden McMahon, Hudson McMahon, Sullivan McMahon, Reese Kirby and Nolan Kirby; her sister Carla Smalley; her sister-in-law, Eileen Paulsen; nieces, nephews, and friends, including her special friend, Martha Bokowski.


The family will meet with friends on Sunday afternoon, February 25, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, IA. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Monday afternoon February 26, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, IA. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira. The casket bearers are Will Kirby, Ryan McMahon, Jake Leggett, Tobin Miller, Kirk Kelloway, David Vorm and Perry Miller.
