Sally Jo Coulthard

February 5, 1943 — September 3, 2016

Sally Jo Coulthard, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Petersen) Frederiksen, was born February 5, 1943, at her parents’ home near Hamlin, Iowa and died September 3, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 28 days. Sally’s father died when she was very young and she was raised in the loving care of her mother Clara and step-father Magnus Madsen.
Sally was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended the Audubon Community Schools and graduated from the Audubon High School. Sally studied at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art.
On January 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to Stanley Coulthard at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowan. Sally and Stanley moved to Chicago, Illinois. Stanley completed his medical degree at the University of Chicago and Sally was employed by Marshall Fields as an interior decorator in the downtown Chicago location. After Stanley graduated they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and he completed his post graduate training in Ear, Nose, and Throat at the University of Michigan. While in Ann Arbor they were blessed with two sons Jason and Jordan and Sally was kept busy as a homemaker raising their young family. In 1977 they moved to Tucson, Arizona. Sally had a busy life raising her sons running an interior decorating business and participating in a number of University of Arizona organizations. She especially enjoyed the University of Arizona Faculty Women’s Organization and the Mt.Lemmon Women’s Group. These activities allowed Sally to enjoy her hobbies of cooking, hiking and traveling the world. Sally was an active member of the Dove of Peace Lutheran Church in Tucson. Her other passions included chocolate, playing the French horn, her menagerie of pets over the years but most of all her grandchildren. Sally leaves us with a love of laughter and a sense of humor hard to match. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding her in death were her parents and step-father; an infant sister Carol Ann Frederiksen; her brother Fred Frederiksen; and her brother-in–law Ernie Albertsen.
Sally is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stanley Coulthard of Tucson, Arizona, her sons Jason and wife Ann Coulthard and Jordan Coulthard; and her grandchildren Matthew, Kevin and Lizzie Coulthard all of Tucson, Arizona; her sister Ardys Albertsen of Carroll, Iowa; her brother Curtis Frederiksen of Audubon, Iowa; her sister-in-law Gwendolyn Frederiksen of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
