Shirley Ann Railsback

Shirley Ann Railsback, the daughter of Marion and Arlene McDonald Miller, was born May 5, 1924, at her parents home in Lewis, Iowa and died December 26, 2009, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
Shirley moved with the family to Audubon when she was a young girl. Shirley was baptized at the First Christian Church in Audubon. She attended school in Lewis, Iowa, Audubon Community Schools and Audubon High School.
On June 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Orville (Corky) Douglas Railsback at the First Christian Church in Audubon. Two daughters, Pamela and Annette, were born to this union. Corky was inducted into the U.S. Army and they moved to Washington State where he was stationed. When Corky was sent overseas, Shirley, returned to Audubon where she lived with her sister, Laura Jean. Corky was discharged and returned to Audubon where they settled. Shirley worked for a short time at Tom and Corkys restaurant, then was a home maker for many years. She later helped Corky operate their business, Corkys Trailer Sales. They operated the business for over 33 years before retiring. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona from 1977 until 1997 where they played golf and enjoyed playing cards. Corky died April 7, 1999. Shirley lived in her home until she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubonfor a short time.
Shirley had been a member of the First Christian Church in Audubon, then transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Audubon when the Christian Church closed. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge # 459, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed cooking and baking and always entertained the family every Sunday for dinner. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she always enjoyed preparing for this special holiday.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband Orville (Corky); was her granddaughter: Lori Firebaugh; her parents; her brother: Karl and wife Maxine Miller and her sister: Laura Jean and husband Clarence Remele.
Survivors include her daughters: Pam and husband Lon Firebaugh of The Colony, TX and Annette and husband Richard Kent of Guthrie Center, IA; her grandchildren: Stewart and wife Kim Firebaugh of Panora, IA, Chad and wife Dana Kent of Altoona, IA, and Heather and husband Brad Mueggenberg of Glidden, IA; her great grandchildren: Ashley Firebaugh of Ankeny, IA, Justin Firebaugh of Panora, IA, Jenifer and husband Jerry Teel of Little Elm, TX, Jaylene Firebaugh and Katie Firebaugh both of The Colony, TX, Zach, Ethen, Cooper, and Carson Mueggenberg all of Glidden, IA; her great great grandchildren: Jaxon Teel and Jett Teel both of Little Elm, TX; her sister: Judy and husband Ernie Kulla of Audubon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Tuesday, December 29, 2009from 9:30 A. M. until time of the service at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dwayne Ferguson and Pastor Denis James on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.
