Sue Ann Stiffler

Sue Ann Stiffler, the daughter of George Benjamin and Helen (Hagen) Stiffler, was born July 21, 1944, in Norwalk, Iowa and died June 2, 2019, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 11 days.
Sue was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Norwalk, Iowa. She attended the Norwalk Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1962. She studied at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where she received her Bachelor Degree in Teaching and also later received her Master’s Degree.
In 1970 Sue moved to Exira, Iowa and was employed by the Exira Community Schools. She taught social studies and math for the fifth and sixth grades. In July of 1993, Sue became a “Mother” for her great nephew Patrick Malloy. She continued teaching for many years retiring in 2002. Sue was a substitute teacher for several years until Patrick graduated from High School in 2006.
Sue enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and also loved to cook. Her greatest passion was china painting. But most of all she enjoyed doing arts and crafts with her great-great niece and nephew Jaylen and Olivia.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Steve Stiffler.
Survivors include her sister Cindy Hildenbrand of Burnsville, Minnesota; her nieces and nephews Angela and husband Brian Frette of Savage, Minnesota, Elizabeth and husband Brian Hiveley of Waukee Iowa and Mike and his wife Stephanie Hildenbrand and their children Amanda, Henry, and Sophia all of Pine Island, Minnesota; her great nephews Patrick and wife Jessica Malloy and their children Jaylen, Olivia, and Jackson all of Exira, Iowa, and Andrew and wife Miriah Ried and son Asher all of Ames, Iowa; cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday afternoon June 22, 2019, from 2:00 p.m., until 4:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
