Teresa Ann Boysen

July 20, 1957 — April 4, 2018

Teresa Ann Boysen, the daughter of Marvin Russell and Donna Jean (Ludwig) Thygesen, was born July 20, 1957, in Audubon, Iowa and died April 4, 2018, at her home in rural Custer, South Dakota at the age of 60 years, 8 months, and 14 days.
Teresa was baptized and confirmed at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa. She attended the Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1975. Teresa worked at Audubon Upholstery and then was employed as a Veterinarian Technician at the Audubon Veterinary Clinic in Audubon, Iowa. In 1982 she moved to Ada, Oklahoma and worked in retail before moving with Dwight to Howells, Nebraska where they established Howells Veterinary Clinic.
On May 7, 1988, she was united in marriage to Dr. Dwight Boysen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with one son Zachary. Teresa then became a stay at home mother. In 2009, they moved to South Dakota and Teresa started working at the Crazy Horse Memorial in the ticket office and the gift shop as a seasonal employee. She enjoyed meeting the interesting visitors from many different countries and having the opportunity to work with people from across the United States.
Teresa was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the church groups. She enjoyed doing craft projects for herself and the church. She loved the outdoors and especially loved horseback riding. Teresa had a special love for all animals but enjoyed her goats and horses the most. She enjoyed hiking with her son and husband. Teresa and Dwight were inseparable and he was by her side doing whatever was possible through her four bouts with cancer.
Preceding her in death were her parents Marvin and Donna Thygesen; and her grandparents William (Bill) and Anna Ludwig and Ejner and Anna Thygesen.
Survivors include her husband Dr. Dwight Boysen of Custer, South Dakota; her son Zachary and wife Heather Boysen of Rapid City, South Dakota; her step-children Lesley and husband Todd Monson of Minburn, Iowa, Doug and wife Kerry Boysen of Corvallis, Oregon, and Jenni Boysen of Ventura, California; her step-grandchildren Gavin, Maddie, and Tanner Monson all of Minburn, Iowa and Clare and Ben Boysen of Corvallis, Oregon; her twin brother Terry (TAT) Thygesen of Audubon, Iowa; her sisters Becky and husband Steve Randeris of Audubon, Iowa, Patti and husband Joe Horan of Carlisle, Iowa, and Connie Golightly of Earlham, Iowa; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Byron and wife Diana Boysen of Argyle, Wisconsin, Glenda and husband Bob Heyderhoff of Ankeny, Iowa and Lonnie Boysen of Harlan, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Monroe Township Cemetery near Walnut, Iowa. The casket bearers will be Matt Randeris, Steve Randeris, Joe Horan, Heath Paulsen, Jeff Schultz, and Steve Azinger. The family will meet with friends Monday evening, April 9, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
