Thomas J. Mcmichael

October 19, 1934 — July 16, 2014

Thomas Jordan McMichael, the son of Homer and Lucille (Jordan) McMichael, was born October 19, 1934, in Audubon County near Exira, Iowa and died July 16, 2014, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 27 days. Thomas was baptized and confirmed at the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross, Iowa and remained a life-long member. He attended rural school in Audubon County in a one room school house then later studied at the Gray School in Gray, Iowa. Thomas helped on the family farm and also helped neighbors shell corn and do other jobs. On May 31, 1953, he was united in marriage to Norma Sorensen at the Methodist Church in Granger, Iowa. Four children Merle, twins Neal and Noel, and Lisa were born to this union. They continued farming and later started a dairy. Thomas was very proud of his herd of Brown Swiss cows. Each cow was affectionately named and well cared for. Thomas’ favorite chore was driving his skid loader. Thomas’ family was a very important part of his life and he loved each and every one of them. Thomas was preceded in death by his granddaughter; Stacy Jo McMichael; his parents; his brothers-in-law: Merlin Sorensen, Jerry Sorensen, and Dale Sorensen; and his sisters-in-law: Donna and husband Gary Parker and Loretta Sorensen. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Norma McMichael; his children Merle and wife Deb McMichael, Neal McMichael, Noel McMichael, and Lisa and husband John Hansen all of Audubon, Iowa; his grandchildren John Lee Hansen, Jordan Hansen, Pamela Hansen, Eric McMichael and Tami Johannsen all of Audubon, Iowa Christy and husband Todd Springston of Templeton, Iowa; 9 great grandchildren; his brother-in-law Arnold Sorensen of Manson, Iowa; his sisters-in-law Wilma Sorensen of Audubon, Iowa, Mary Beth Sorensen of Panora, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Cameron Township Cemetery north of Ross.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steve Daiker on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 2:00P.M. at the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross, Iowa.
