Yvonne Annamarie Staples

January 23, 1935 — February 15, 2016

Yvonne Annamarie Staples, the daughter of Hans Peter and Carrie Marie (Christensen) Jorgensen, was born January 23, 1935, at her parents’ home south of Sharon, Iowa and died February 15, 2016, at the St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 81 years and 22 days.
Yvonne was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural schools near Audubon and the Audubon High School. Yvonne then was employed as a waitress at the “White Spot” Café for a short time.
On February 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Keith Staples. Three children John, Jackie, and Gary were born to this union. They lived in Audubon, Iowa for a few years then moved numerous times because of Keith’s job. They lived in Denison, Iowa, Rockport, Missouri, Friona, Texas, Fall City, Nebraska, St. Louis, Missouri, Shenandoah, Iowa, Farragut, Iowa, Glenwood, Iowa, and Papillion, Nebraska. In each location Yvonne either managed food services or was the dietician at several schools until she retired. During retirement Yvonne loved searching for antique furniture and jewelry and enjoyed refinishing the special pieces of furniture she would find. She loved to garden and was an accomplished seamstress. Yvonne loved visiting with her family and spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband Keith Staples; her granddaughter Linda Steffen; her parents; her brothers and sisters Hans Peter Jorgensen, Jr., Patricia Schurer, Sharlene and husband Michael Jensen, Lloyd Jorgensen, Geneva and husband LaVerne Krauel; and her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Lyle “Louie” Murray, Gordon Wealch, and Audrey Jorgensen.
Survivors include her children John and wife Diane Staples of Carroll, Iowa, Jackie Staples of Ralston, Nebraska, and Gary and wife Pat Staples of Carroll, Iowa; her grandchildren Allie Staples of Minot, North Dakota, Brandon Staples of Carroll, Iowa, Kerri and husband Bill Finner of Lucas, Texas, Eric Staples and finance Tasha Smith both of Ankeny, Iowa and Trista Staples and finance Jake Kalkhoff of Manning, Iowa; her son-in-law Mark Steffen of Bettendorf, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters Franklin and wife Carol Jorgensen of Audubon, Iowa, Virginia and husband Norbert Stoberl of Manning, Iowa, Eric John Jorgensen and Beatrice Wealch both of Audubon, Iowa, Darvin and wife Nadine Jorgensen of Exira, Iowa and Marlene and husband Kent Walters of Audubon, Iowa; her brother-in-law Michael Schurer of Lawrence, Kansas; her sisters-in-law Shirley Jorgensen and Jane Jorgensen both of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. The family will meet with friends on Friday evening at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
