Alene Meyer

Alene Meyer, 73, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Alene was born December 12, 1943, south of Cumberland, Iowa, to Ronald William and Pauline Harriett (Hollen) Landon at the home of one of her parent's friends. She graduated from Cumberland/Massena High School in 1962. Alene was married to Dennis Meyer in April of 1964. They lived in the Atlantic and Anita area all their married life. They had three children, Kevin, Kelly and Kodi.

She was a real estate agent for Atlantic Home Realty.

Alene was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the American Cancer Society. She also helped with mission work through the church and was on the board of the Hitchcock House.
She especially enjoyed bragging about her grandchildren.

Preceding Alene in death were her parents; her husband, Denny; a son, Kelly; a grandson, Kegan; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Harry.

Those surviving Alene are her children, Kevin (Jody) Meyer of Indianola, IA and Kodi Newman of Anita, IA; grandchildren, Kaitlin Meyer of Anita, IA, Jordanne Meyer of Des Moines, IA, Kyale Meyer-Bartlett of Shenandoah, IA, Kayden, Khloe, and Kaleb Newman of Anita; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Meyer; sisters, Shiela Harry of Omaha, NE, Lucia (Larry) Kinnison of Oakland, IA and Mary (Robert) Armstrong of Atlantic, IA; brothers-in-law, Dick (Linda) Meyer of Atlantic, IA, Chris (Kathy) Meyer of Atlantic, IA and Craig (Deb) Meyer of Lewis, IA; two special aunts, Joyce Hollen and Nancy Allison both of Denver, CO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation with family will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Friday, January 13, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic, IA with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Memorials may be left to the family's wishes.
