Anna Irene Hinkle

Anna Irene Hinkle was born January 6, 1917, at her parents’ home in Guthrie County near Casey, Iowa and died October 24, 2013, at the Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois at the age of 96 years, 9 months and 18 days. Her parents were Fred and Edna (Sampson) Rasmussen. Anna had two brothers William (Bud) and Wayne and two sisters Ethel and Frances. Anna was baptized in the Christian Church. She attended rural school east of Exira, Iowa. One of her cherished memories was when her brother Bud had to travel by horseback to the school and take her and sister Frances home during a snowstorm. Anna then attended Exira High School through the 9th grade. On January 22, 1936, she was united in marriage to Marion W. Hinkle at the Lutheran Parsonage in Exira, Iowa. Four children Larry, Marilyn (Lyn), Vickie, and Trudy were born to this union. Marion was a carpenter in Exira while Anna was a homemaker caring for their son Larry who had been born in February of 1937. Later in 1943 Marion enlisted in the U.S Navy and served until he was honorably discharged in 1946. During this time Anna and Larry maintained their home in Exira. After being discharged Marion returned to Exira and was employed with the Rock Island Railroad. The family lived in several towns in Iowa and Anna was a homemaker caring for Marion and raising the children. Marion retired in 1979 and they settled in Exira. Marion and Anna spent the winter months in Alamo, Texas where they made many friends over the years. Marion died August 31, 1996. Anna continued to live in her home. Anna was a member of the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa and had been a member of the Eastern Star. Anna was very close to her family and enjoyed traveling to visit them and having them visit her. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, reading and gardening. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Marion; her parents; her brothers William (Bud) and Wayne and her sisters Ethel Wheeler and Frances Ramthun. Survivors include her children; Larry Hinkle of St. Augustine, Florida, Marilyn (Lyn) and husband John Seifried of Aurora, Nebraska, Vickie and husband Mike Donoho of Collinsville, Illinois, and Trudy Hinkle of Schenectady, New York; 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Oakfield Cemetery east of Brayton, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Monday, October 28, 2013, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at the Christian Church in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Glen Meyers on Monday, October 28, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa.
