Anthony Jessen

April 18, 1993 — March 11, 2017

Anthony “Antman” Michael Jessen, 23, passed away March 11, 2017, at his home. He was born April 18, 1993, in Omaha, Nebraska, son to Amy Hoegh-Maes and David Jessen. As a boy, he participated in the Boy Scouts and was a member of Troop 54. He attended Atlantic schools and graduated from Atlantic High School in 2011. As a student, he participated in the “Building Trades Program” where he built homes in the Atlantic community. After high school, he moved to Colorado and lived there for three years.

Upon moving back home to Atlantic, he and his wife, formerly Lynnea Burton, married on January 13, 2016. He worked as a mechanic in a number of places throughout the community and enjoyed working with his hands. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing and working on his truck, but mostly he just really loved hunting with his best friend Brad Herring.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Lynnea Jessen and his children, Tyler Sweeny, 5, and Kenzie Jessen, 1. He also leaves his mother and stepfather, Amy and Joseph Maes (Atlantic); his father and stepmother, David and Laura Jessen (Atlantic); his brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin Jessen and Tara Cooley (Atlantic); his stepbrother, Steven Maes and wife Carolanne Maes (Fremont, NE); his maternal grandmother, Mary Hoegh (Atlantic); his aunt and uncle Carrie Hoegh and Joseph Klages (Des Moines) and also Danial and Tracey Moore (Vermont); his cousins and their families, Joey Klages, Matt Klages and Tyler Klages (Des Moines) and also Jamie Mcbride, Jesse Moore and Kimberly Moore (South Carolina); as well as many other extended aunts, uncles and cousins.

Anthony was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Russel Hoegh (Atlantic); his paternal grandfather and grandmother, Richard and Goldie Jessen (Omaha); and also grandmother, Janet Fillinger (Atlantic); his paternal uncle, Danny Jessen (Des Moines); and his paternal aunt, Patricia Hildreth (Des Moines).

There will be a visitation with family at Hockenberry Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2017, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. where Anthony was baptized. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Audubon County at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established at First Whitney Bank and Trust in Atlantic in the name of Anthony Jessen.

Anthony was deeply loved and will be incredibly missed by many. His irreplaceable love for his family and friends will never be forgotten. He touched the lives of everyone he met in his own special Antman way and the world will be a little less sunny without his infectious smile and one of a kind personality.
